1981 monkey wards canned ham after cleanup and servicing. oiled the sticky cordwinder, lubed all the wheel axles (icluding on the powerhead). waxed and rubbing compounded all painted areas and used a vinyl protectant on the hose. i bought a very hard to find VG1 brushroll off ebay for $60 that has the correct shaft and pulley to operate in powerheads. works amazingly well. powerhead works evenly matched as my powermates with the wonderful beater bars.

the machine was a find at a salvation army in ardmore, OK for $15 and runs great. lamb motor is nice and strong and powerhead motor runs like new.

also if anyone reads this far down in the post. i need a full vintage set of attachments for it. the upholstery nozzle is all that came with it, and is badly damaged at the neck. the other attachments were not there.

closeup of the powerhead. with the VGI inside this is a beast of a powerhead. only the kenmore powermate compares to it.

You did it justice Will! Nice find there. I have the brandywine version Eureka which came with the VG1, and the model down from that one has it too. They are great cleaners. When I sold Electrolux in the early 80's, one of the pitches was, two motors clean better than one, and it's proven with the Eureka's power nozzles of those times. I will look around to see if I have any loose attachments for you. I might in a rubbermaid container...somewhere. The next time I'm out to my friend's vac shop, I'll check out their bin as well.

The search for tools in a matching colour will be a challenge. There are many bright white Eureka upright tool sets on eBay that would at least give you a new classic Eureka Williams crevice tool, dusting brush and upholstery nozzle. But it looks like your rebranded Wards vac has that classic Eureka beige of the early 1970's. You may need beige tools to get a proper match.

Nice to hear that the machine is powerful - those Eureka Williams "Roto-Matic" power nozzles were wonderful

rick i really appreciate that. from my experience, the only times you score complete sets of attachments is digging thru vacuum shops or vacuum shop estate auctions.

for hoover and eureka, on ebay, attachment sets dont exist at all. kirby, rainbow, compact seem plentiful and even complete. when it comes to canisters, attachments sets simply dont exist unless you DIG and pick. attachments for kenmore powermates also dont exist outside vacuum shops either....

let me know what you find rick. again appreicate you looking out for them.

Neat!

What a nice vac, good luck on the attachment search. I'm always amazed at how hard it can be to find attachments for even common vacs so can imagine this will take some time and persistence but the end result will be worth it.

Is that a collection of Sunbeam Radiant Control toasters in one of your pictures?

Nice Eurekas. I agree the attachments for these are hard to find, I've tried to find attcachments for my Slimline and Constellation on eBay and haven't had much success.

I'd like to see your vacuum display shelves, I see three Constellations there.

Commercial Sanitaire canned ham I would like to find again someday.
The first time I lacked any storage space to keep it.
Yours is a fine machine, congrats.

Thanks Rob. The pic with the bananas and apple is actually from the Ebay listing when I bought the vac. The seller was trying to show just how clean the vac really was. Supposedly it was used at a family's vacation home and had very little use.
