I bought a new handvac and I chose the Shark Pet Smart. I realize most here (me included) sometimes consider Shark's "toys" rather than vacs, but I think they make good hand vacs. I bought it because I was immediately struck by the attachment that aids with hair pickup. It reminded me somewhat of the Lux Sidekick! It uses the same contact pins with embedded wiring. It just plugs into the air intake port and you have a battery powered motorized brush roll. The unit seems well made. It is assembled with metal screws holding it together. The unit is powered by Ni-MH batteries that are rechargeable by a cord. It's similar to a cell phone charging cord. The battery pack can be replaced. The filter is washable and is reinforced with plastic. The vac comes with a crevice attachment also.

I had intended to make a real introduction post with something more substantial but my collection doesn't come close to matching most of you. I have a long haired cat so I hope it helps me out!

I'm sorry I mistyped. The vacuum is called Pet Perfect, not Pet Smart... After first test run it has strong suction and will remove pet hair without the brush roll. The brush roll works very well but hair twines around it... If anyone is looking for a quick pickup hand vac, I recommend it.

Thanks Dan... Shark has made improvements I think. A relative has an electric hand vac from Shark that's past 5 years old and still going strong. I figured everyone would laugh at this... I can't match you guys' collection's yet but we all have to start somewhere!
