I just fixed an Elite like that one for a friend..only mine has a different bag...

I must say, I don't mind the machine at all, it cleans well and the one I worked on doesn't seem to noisy.

I replaced the brush roll, the height adjustment knob was missing, and the bag clip was broken, all in all it cost about 20.00 to have it back in tip top shape. The picture was taken after a good spa treatment through the dishwasher, put back together waiting on her new parts.

Elites....

I was talking to my Hoover Engineer friend who worked on the Elites. According to him, this new line of cleaners introduced in 1988 was just a bottom of the line cleaner. The Convertible was still king. They never expected people to buy them up as they did. By 1992 the Elite was king and the Convertible was history. Maybe Hoover Convertibled themselves to death? The Elite is a good product. I like all of the variations except the last of them which were 12 amps which is too much for any machine. They cleaned well and were easy to work on repair wise. My favorite Elite is the first new Hoover I ever bought back in 1999. It was a "Caddy Vac". It was reasonable and it cleaned well. I still have it, but it now resides in its original box in the attic. I will get it out again in the future. I just loved the removable tool rack. It was very handy. Lets just hope that TTI keeps stocking parts for them!
