What a monster! I bet it weighs a ton!! Interestingly, the suction motor appears to be just the standard size of an old household vacuum cleaner. The fan also appears to be fairly small, going by the size of the housing. But then look at that big motor underneath to drive the brush roll! It's huge!! So it would seem that this beast is more or less just a glorified electric carpet sweeper, lots of heft in the brush roll department but then just enough suction power to draw the dirt into the bag. |

It was used to Lift the pile of down trodden carpets especially before carpet cleaning. The suction motor was jsu there to remove dust. We had similar Clarke versions here in SA. They weigh an absolute ton. Hotels loved them as just running this thing over the carpet made the carpet look amazing, That said they had a drawback of bringing Sand to the top of the pile but not to pick i up meaning you would have to vacuum behind it. This mainly happened in entrance ways to buildings were heavy traffic was normal. Gareth |

The Hild Pile Lifter vacuum looks so much like the Certified Pile Lifter vacuum sold today. The Certified version uses disposable bags.It also has a "scrap trap" to catch pins, nails, paper clips, pebbles before they get into the suction motor fan. |
