A gathering of my Christmas colored vacuums for the holidays. I hope that everyone had a wonderful, safe, and healthy holiday season!! Safe travels to all trying to get back home from there destinations.
Luckily I had an equal amount of "reds" and "greens" to make something work. I don't have any gold colored vacuums otherwise those may have gotten thrown into the mix!! This was fun to do. I think it would be fun to see if anyone else has any such arrangements!! The Hoover PowerDrive on the right end despite looking blue, is actually a gorgeous green!! |

Hoover Windtunnel canister did the first floor cleaning. Got a slight tune up in the process. Little brush roll clean out, screw tightening and wheel adjustment. Working great now!! Thanks John Long for finding this one for me and your generosity!!!
I clean the surrounding carpet with brush roll on, and the oriental generally I clean with brush roll turned off. Only on really dirty occasions or about once a month do I run a vacuum with brush roll turned on for this delicate oriental. Another reason I love my high airflow canister vacuums with power nozzles, as it leaves me the option. |

Love that green Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team, Rob!
My only disappointment with the design of those Eurekas lies in the awkward placement of the power plug on the hose handle: it always seemed to me to be a shock hazard because there really is no comfortable place to grab the handle far from the power nozzle plug. This was, of course, before the debut of Eureka's comfortable "Express" gas pump handle. It just seems like poor industrial design to place that plug right where you would want to grab the handle, don't you agree? |

Great Christmas vacs!!
Glad you like the Rotomatic Brian. I always just grab the handle on the white grip right above the plug. I like the design of pushing the cord up into the plug as the receptacle is set back. Electricity can't pass through plastic. I have no vibration or anything. Exactly where my hand is in Reply 5 picture, is how I vacuum!! I hold the same spot on the Kenmore basic hoses-- that large plastic mount between hose and protruding metal. On Hoover basic hoses with suction regulator I hold the thick part on the end right above where the hose goes into the handle. I actually find the gas pump handle on the Express canister to be quite uncomfortable myself. My hand always seems to rest up against the back of the handle which is completely squared off on all sides and feels sharp to my hand. I have gotten blisters and cuts from it, yet there are no cuts, scrapes or scratches on handle, it's in perfect condition. So it's all how they manufactured it. Had they rounded off the sides, it would feel smoother. I don't care to use the Eureka gas pump handle for that reason. ****See green arrow marker below for what I'm talking about. |

Thanks for that answer Rob....very enlightening. I once had a Eureka World Vac canister and never had a problem with the Express gas-pump handle. For me it is much more comfortable since I find the older Power Team hose handle too thick and bumpy to grab onto. Somehow Electrolux USA figured out how to make a slimmer electrified hose handle at the time! My beloved Eureka should have copied them! :-)
Wishing you a Happy and Healthy 2014 Rob!!! |
