$6.99 wasn't a bad price either.

Cleaned up pretty well. How old would this vacuum be?

Your cleaner is model 1140, manufactured from 1968-1971, styled in Marine Blue and Light, Medium and Deep Seal Greige. A very nice find, indeed!

A favorite Aunt had this exact same machine, bought in 1971, tools, hose, plastic carrying bag and all. It was still going in 1993, until the little narrow back wheels finally developed cracks, and had pieces broken out,,could not push the machine any longer with broken wheels. Unfortunatly my Aunt was a heavy smoker, and would vacuum up cigarette ashes, and butts, so the exhaust of the machine STUNK and REEKED TERRIBLE of nasty old cigarettes. Sadly, after she passed,in 94, the machine went to the trash heap.

dirty bag

What a good find!!! I smiled about the dirty bag. Why is it when you buy a vacuum from someone they never empty the bag. Even when they post them to you. You open the parcel get the cleaner out and low and behold a full bag!! Makes me smile everytime.

Hoover Dial-A -Matic

Nice DAM! And one of the better of many great Hoover color combinations. From one who has been there, done that-Carry it gently with built in handle. The handle socket at top of bag housing is a weak point as I found out the hard way.Did you get attachments? The DAM was probably the easiest ever upright to convert to hose use.Happy Hoovering.
