absolutely caked in dirt .Back in the late 70s i would spend 1 day a week at the CO OP in middlesbrough working on Hoover products that had come back into the store for repair under guarantee at the time [some of you may remember]hoover had a trade in deal going trade in your old Hoover and get cash off a new one .they came in droves there was literally a mountain of old vacuums in the store room all diffrent makes but lots of Hoover especially this model no one knew what to do with them [meanwhile the mountain was getting bigger]i asked the manager if i could have one he said ONE you can have the fxxking lot i dont care what you do with them just get rid of course i took as many as i could but i was still living at home with my parents and my dad didnt take kindly to having lots of old hoovers sharing the garage with his pride and joy [a Hillman Avenger].Some of those machines were in good condition and had nothing wrong with them one day i went to the CO OP and they had all gone the manager had paid someone to dump them but when i called a week later there was the beginings of a new pile

Poor little 375! I'm imagining finding that massive pile of old cleaners nowadays, would be a goldmine! Can't wait to see more! |

i dyed the whole bag it makes the black bits look really black like it would have been when new if done by hand it wont damage the lettering i will dip the repaired part in the dye again later the white powder is salt that will brush off when dry its far from perfect but short of making a new bag its the best i can do

brushes are just brush strips from a Hoover senior you can see them in reply 13 separate a tuft and just pull it out with a pair of pliers the bristles are just bent over a wire staple squeeze the staple and then force it into the hole on your old brush strip once the wire apears on the other side pull it through but not too far then bend the wires out again dont forget to glue everything afterwards i use araldite because its really strong . the new bristles are much stiffer than the old ones so i dont know how it will perform yet although i did it on a 119 and it works a treat if you let go the handle while its running it moves on its own i put this down to the stiffer bristles give

Wow thanks for the tip! I have several machines that need re bristling. Will buy some cheap brush strips and experiment with some spare brushrolls. |

Brushroll is looking good! I managed to find a pair of good length inserts, so used them. Have enough scrap ones and a senior insert to be playing with though! Given me so much inspiration for my 375, sadly I lack the time and space to do it! Can't wait for the afters |
