Today I got one of the older dirt devil room mates for $5 at a voa. It is missing the cord clip, but it works fine. Is this a good deal? Are these uncommon machines? Thanks!!! -Mitchell -I just sold a broken dyson dc14 for $20 today also, which is good, because I had only $5 invested in it!!!!

They are definitely uncommon. I never had one, but I heard that they do an alright job on short carpets.

I tried it and it works great on short carpet!!! This one also doesn't have any signs of wear and scratches.

Mieles7- i noticed you're thread about dc14's. I found one at a flea market for $5, 3 months ago. It had a brushroll problem, but i thought I could resell it and make a profit. I was right!! I asked $35 for it on CL, and I ended up getting $20 for it today, which isn't bad, considering it needed the brush repair.

Was it just the clutch? That part seems to always fail on the DC14.
