I met up with some other members of the forum who collect and live near me in Central PA. We had a great time together the last 2 days and did some exchanging and thrifting together.

Unfortunately thrift stores are highly unpredictable and there was only one machine recovered from several stores that we visited. In the back room, which wasn't well closed off, but I probably shouldn't have been back there---hahahhah---- I spotted a Hoover Decade 80. Tan in color with unoriginal bag,and the store associate said it was untested and they'd probably sell it for around $30-35 depending on how it ran. Well I showed her the rusted brush roll and told her I'd give her $10 right now for it. She didn't think twice and seemed quite happy with that, as am I.

When we returned home, I tested it out a bit, with and with out belt and a borrowed from Hoover Estate Convertible agitator. It runs great. Very happy. Will take more pictures once fully cleaned up. For this photo the bag is already soaking in Shout and Wisk in the laundry tub!!

Hoover Decade 80, model U4159

Eureka/ Electrolux Trade

My former "Ugly Duckling" post of the Electrolux Automatic 1451 is to thank for meeting great friends. It was this posting on Craigslist which they inquired and they thought I was from the forum!!

We agreed on a trade instead of cash sale. I am now the proud owner of a fantastic condition Eureka ESP model 2105 and they are now proud owners of the Electrolux Automatic 1451. Both parties are happy and so are the vacuums!!

The Eureka was due for some cleaning and work. Outerbag is fantastic, hood and cord are near mint condition. Agitator brushes look ok--I cleaned them too. Here's the thing: The machine sounds great, and agitator brushes look good. I vacuumed 5 wall to wall carpeted medium pile dense rooms today, which haven't been vacuumed for about 3 days. We have 2 dogs, 3 cats. Some rooms are extremely light traffic and some medium traffic. Bag had minimal dirt, if any in bag to start--feeling the bag, I could feel a little but very little. At the end of the 5 rooms, the bag still felt like barely any dirt, I cut it open, found a small clump of fine dust and a little hair.

After vacuuming with this upright the carpets themselves didn't look groomed too much, not at all like the VGII on my Rotomatic canister and this is a VGII on the ESP. Belt I believe is stretched, but the agitation sounded great while running vacuum, carpet seal sounded and felt good, I even ran some on the lowest height setting.

So that said I've definitely got to check motor and fan, replace belt, check agitator bristle height. Bag blows out well though, agitator sounds like its working fine.

Ugly duckling

It's beautiful in my eyes! I used it again in the bedroom this am, I love the sound of it! Of course my bedroom did not need vacuuming since it has been done numerous times in the past 2 days! I'm hoping to get my green Decade 80 and Electrolux Epic tonight after we go to the park! I will let you know and you can come play with them! Awesome meeting you, and making a fellow collector friend!

Yeah, if you search "Ugly Duckling" in the threads, you'll find the post of when I first got the Electrolux. See when I first saw it, I was like, hey this is cool an Electolux and vintage for my collection. But then closer looks and usage its just not my colors, not a power head canister and some other things.

Don't worry its not you, its me!!! Forever I hated Cadillacs. Nothing wrong with the ride and features but just so boxxy looking. I like sleeker curvy things, and that's a lot of what I saw in the Electrolux too-- just too boxxy. So Glad you love it!! Enjoy!! Will find you a Hoover power head canister eventually so that you don't get seriously ill dreaming of mine!! LOL.

To everyone:

I am wondering how experience with the CWP Decade/ Convertible brush roll is? I would like to get a new brush roll for the Decade 80 all suggestions and experiences are EXTREMELY welcome!! Thanks
