I just finished up the rebuild and restore on my Kirby Classic III

I do not know what exact year it is. Here is what I did:

-New fan assembly
-New lifter lens and decal
-New fan case seal
-New brush to nozzle seal
-New bumper
-I disassembled and cleaned every part down to the motor.
-I cleaned the motor, but did not disassemble it.
-I polished all the metal
-I washed the bag with Woolite.

Things that might get done down the road:

-New light lens
-New speed switch, the one I have is kind of touchy but it works.

justin, look for a parts machine on ebay for a speed switch and new headlight lens. a new speed switch's cost for the classic omega series (which includes the CL III) has skyrocketed this year going from 24 to $52. a new healight is $8. i bought a parts classic III i stripped for the armature for $20 total including shipping. also, if you want a mirror shine on your kirby, as a final step, polish it with 0000 steel wool in circular patterns, and dont be afraid to liberally apply pressure when doing so.

You did a great job!  What kind of polishing compound did you use?
