Its alot heavier than I was expecting but i cleans nicely. This one has a ametek motor unlike older versions that we have worked on that had domel motors.

Overall I like it though the hose is a joke and for the price it should have come with a dusting brush and some form of extention tube. I find its hose and lack of extension tube odd considering the brilliant set upi on the x & g series

Very Nice

I still need to get one of those .

I have the Sebo X4 which I can`t stand because of the automatic height adjustment .

It never stays still always moving up n down .it never seems to groom the carpet as well also because of the constant movement .

I am selling it because I have an Essential G which I love with the manual height adjustment .

That is a great looking machine. I'd love to get both the red Felix and D4.

.New Sebo .

Gareth,
I am SURE it is a nice machine but the Sebo's look so BORING to me. It reminds me of what we used to have called Regina Electricbrooms. It's just my age.
What caught my eye was that beautiful old Hoover Upright!!!
Now that was when you were proud to own a HOOVER.

Well you got the same one as I did, albeit I have the older model but you have the newer Navy Blue.

The reason Sebo don't put an extension tube is because the crevice tool alone is supposed to give you added reach (one reason alone to why I ordered the K series slip on upholstery T shape tool)- and Sebo don't market the Felix as being a top of the range vacuum, but a compromise between the K series canister and a smaller upright machine that Sebo customers wanted. I was annoyed when my Felix didn't come with an extension wand either and eventually bought the straight tube off EBay. However, I eventually got tired of that and just bought a spare X wand off EBay and then used the extra extension hose whenever long reach is required. The built in hose does stretch to 3 metres though gsheen, so it can be stretched out - you just have to keep one hand on the machine's handle if you are cleaning with the hose unless you put it against a step when cleaning stairs.

I have medium pile rugs and my X1.1 seems to groom the carpets...but then I don't have a sensor that keeps changing.

I bought a x1 when they first came out.  I loved it on my medium loop pile carpets. then I moved my new house had lovely plush carpets were the thing became usless. I replaced the circuit board , sensor and wheel but same problem a very uneven clean.

When I decided to add sebo to our range of vacuums they asked if I wanted to sell the x4 so they sent me one, same problem. I sennt it back no thanx.

I have a g1 everything is the same exept it has manual hight adjustment. Much better machine , cleans better

New Sebo Felix

Gareth,
What a cute picture of your son Anthony. Now there is something you can be proud of as a father!
I know what you are saying about those great old Hoovers. Year and years ago during a summer break from college, I worked for Electrolux. My boss was an OLD time Electrolux salesman. He would just get a smile on his face whenever we went to demo at a house where they had a Hoover,NOT because the Electrolux would get more embedded dirt out of the rug but because the Hoover leaked so much dust back in the air that it settled on the drapes, tables, furniture and back on the rug again. If it was a Kirby or Hoover owner he could just about always sell them.
He knew JUST what to do. He would start pulling black test cloths on EVERYTHING in the room and he would always unzip the plastic bag and expose the paper bag, then take one of their OWN lamps, have them turn on the Hoover and show them why it WAS picking up the dirt but it was also just redistributing the filth back on everything.
It was a much harder sell if the customer already had an Electrolux or Air-Way unless the customer just wanted the new features.
I remember once he told me -How do you think we have sold Millions and millions of the XXX's?
It was such a different time period. Housewives were home,Electrolux was a very well known name and it was not hard to get into the house to do the demo's.
He used to tell me if we came to a house and they owned a Filter Queen or Rexair and WERE HAPPY with it-don't waste your time! He was quite a salesman.
Still nothing quite like the sound of an old Hoover on wool carpet.

Is it a new color scheme, Gareth? I have never seen one with a solid colored filter cloth before. Always ones with pattern prints.

I don't know if specs are different in SA, but wasn't there some talk about Sebo dropping the Amatek motor in favor of a newer, quieter, more reliable finned motor (possibly a Bosch)? I find it curious that your new Felix has an Ametek and you observe that Dommels were used in older vacs. Is that specific to SA?

I also find the detachable hose of limited use. It may be handy here and there, but above floor cleaning is not the Felix's strong suit. It's a very good vac otherwise.

Please share your observations as you become familiar with it. It's new and shiny!

Sanifan

I had a choice of a bright orange and blue print one and this navy blue and white one, seen we will be selling them and this is going to be my show model I went for the more conservative colour as it will mainly end up in high end houses , guest houses and smaller hotels.

It could be that they prefer the ametek for the 220v market and the bosh motor for the 110v market. after years of been in the vacuum business I would have never said that a bosh motor is more reliable than a tol commercial amatek motor.

so I tried the hardfloor tool, very impressed with it, it works so nicely and allows you to clean the hardfloors with ease. ONLY thing i don't like is it there is no park function so you have to lean the machine against something when you need to move something

Sanifan - thats the Felix Navy shown here - it's an old colour that came out alongside the Felix Fun (no longer sold in the UK from SEBO) Felix Classic and Felix Ice Blue. Infact thinking about it now, there isn't much of a difference between the Ice Blue and the Navy since both bodies are greyish white - classic is cream based - and is an old model that is no longer sold. It seems like the U.S are only just getting the Felix line in, with the older colour schemes we had.

For 2012 the new range in the UK is made up of the Felix Vogue, Felix Rosso, Felix Navy, Felix Pet and the Felix Royale (the royal one I showed on here with the British Union Jack.)

I cant speak for the U.S but in the U.K and Europe in General, the Felix motors were replaced to Bosch units because SEBO had tested them and found them to be more efficient. Unless you have a poor motor from a Felix that uses this current motor, why worry?? Let SEBO know about it.

To be honest that worry's me allot

Bosh motors are very efficient and suck very well but they do not handle abuse well at all. sebo's are used in the hotel industry were abuse is the norm. we are in the middle of a massive set of holidays here but when we resume work later theis week I will contacts sebo SA and here what they have to say.

I just counted 120 semiens and bosh vacuums in our storeroom ( tradeinns ) 90% of those will be burnt out.

I got a whole bunch of Kirby parts with two Kirby's I bought and found this sebo extra long sebo hose in it.

I got my Felix out of storage and tried it out. One of my biggest complaints about the Felix was its hose setup which was not so great if you need to use the hose a bit more than never.

It turns a machine that is only good for Carpets and hard floors into a versatile machine for total home cleaning

You can buy the hose extensions from SEBO - they come as standard with the X4 Extra and Pet, but can be bought separate for the Felix too. Interesting that a Kirby hose fits the end of a SEBO hose though, or did you fit the handle from the Kirby hose to the SEBO extension hose?

The lady who I got the Kirby's from has a load of Kirby parts but also has a whole bunch of sebo's that we service for her. She didnt use this hose and was doing a clear out. Its a genuine sebo hose
