I think I'm right in saying you can age your cleaner by looking at the Serial Number, and the first number after the model number is the year, and the next two are the month.

For example, "711" would be the 7th year in the decade, and the 11th month. You just need to know the decade so you can piece together the year.

Yes on the newer style serial numbers you can from about 1969 onwards but this is older it goes by production numbers by year.

I think your 1334A was made in November 1967.

But if this was indeed made in 1967, then I think your cleaner is not a 1334A but rather a 1334E. 7 is the year and the 11 following it is the month. They actually used this system in Europe starting in that year.

The 1334E had supplanted the new 1346 Junior (1340 here in the U.S.) until the introduction of the 1354 Dirtsearcher Junior the next year, and the 1334E was discontinued in 1969.

I havent posted any photos of it so how could you know it was November 67?
It has 1334A stamped onto to the cast alloy casing and it is the Hop and Jonquil green version so it could be around 1965.
Cheers
Mark

Mark,

Then your s/n is indeed before the period in which it could be dated. Since it is the Hop Green/Jonquil trim, yes, your machine was made around 1965-67.

Hi Mark,

Your 1334A is fairly easy to date, as the version in hop green and jonquil with the alloy hood was only made for three months - March to June 1965 - before it was replaced with the plastic hood version.
