Eureka Roto-Maticsss

While in the place of which we do not speak(part warehouse-part Collyer brothers memorial)I found the extra GOLD Crown behind 2 other Eurekas. You now have a choice of Chrome,GOLD or blue at vintage vacuum or Ebay seller leisurelady65.These are machine only which might be a good time to remember Johnny Cash's Cadillac which came "one piece at a time" as some good things will. However the "did not cost a dime" part will not work with paypal.

1988 Royal 660

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
Seller incorrectly describes this 1988-build Royal model 660 Heavy Duty Commercial upright as a "Prince" model.

What I see on this as replaced parts are a light blue Adjust-O-Rite from a model 604 or 881, and a newer-style handle assembly with the staggered (front-facing) cord hook (from 1990 and later commercial Royals).

Serial #C88C010112 (March 1988).

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
This one says "Rexair" on the front label instead of "Rainbow," suggesting this is from a 1975 or '76 model D2. Why? Seller says this has a three-pronged plug.

I hint this one is a model R-1024 type B.

Was that the pink one? pictured with woman using it in her living room? If it was, it was at least the second time around for that cleaner.

Persoannly I would have looked a long time at my £180 before spending it on one of those - I only paid £150 for my Maytag Galaxy and that was brand new and in Harrods no less. And yes, it was an impulse buy .....

Kenmore twin fan

When I first saw the handle I thought this was a bojack repaint as this is TN and the color of football is orange. It turned out to be the plainest, cutest,ORANGEST,original twin fan Sears you have never seen!See at vintage vacuum or leisurelady65.(One of the pictures is somehow from Western Auto/Hoover which goes on this week with matching WA/Hoover canister.Sorry.)

I know what you mean about that twin fan, I LOVE the color scheme. I have the matching canister for it, so I hope I get it. If I do, I will have my first matching set of any vacuums! And its funny, the morning before I found it, I was wondering if the canister had an upright to go with it. Then, there it is!

David - it looks like this beautiful Eureka 265 has newer wheels. I would bet that the original wheels were turquoise to match the rest of the vac. Also - it looks like someone had to change the collar of the bag which attached to the main unit. The collar shown in the last picture is a much newer one used on the 2000 series uprights. The older collar was probably also turquoise, and was probably the screwless removable version which used a latch that you opened to release it for easy bag changing (the instruction manual directed the user to remove the entire bag assembly, put it on a table zipper side up and do the bag change away from the main vac)

Besides these modifications - what a great vintage Eureka!!!!! :-)

That Convertible is an INSANE rip-off, over $400!!!! Besides, I am particularly looking for a Convertible with the original two-speed motor.

Question: I recently sold an old Hoover shakeout bag for the coffee can style of vacuums and it sold for a very large amount. I had no idea it would go so high. The bag is not an original but a replacement made by DVC. What makes this bag worth so much? The bag is new in the original package but I still wouldn't think it would sell for a lot of money.

The polisher

Charlie Lester has asked someone to post this........

Yes, it's mine. A lot of things have been happening here at Casa Electrolux. I've been for some time mulling over my collection, wondering, kinda, "What's the point?"

Ever since I lost my big workshop at my old apartment and then was forced to move to a much smaller apartment with a small space for a workshop space but "not really," and even less space to keep, maintain and enjoy my collection, most of my vacuum cleaners except the really best ones are are just piled up (neatly!) in the garage. If I can't enjoy them any longer, then I don't see any point in hanging on to any of them except my most "cherished treasures."

As I am getting older, I am finding I have less desire than I used to to keep hoarding a garage-full of vacuum cleaners that I am unable to do anything with other than to just keep hoarding them.

Also, times are still tight, and getting tighter [haven't seen any economic upturn around here]. I've been working only an average of 10-15 hours per week, plus my church job which helps some but where the income is hardly enough to live on.

Then, to top it off, I got the Pretty Bad News last week that I have Type 2 Diabetes. Not looking for pity or anything like that, it's just a fact of life for me. And it's going to mean some big changes. Part of what I'm looking at, longer-term, is that I don't want to end up disabled, or worse, with all these vacuum cleaners hanging over my head, leaving Arlee to deal with them "worst-case scenario." It does concern me to think about the incredible burden that would fall upon Arlee if I wasn't able to take care of my collection in a responsible manner.

So I am going to be disseminating the bulk of my collection, keeping only a dozen or so machines that hold extra-special significance for me that I can keep hidden around in the apartment out of Arlee's way.

I hope everyone understands how eBay is the easiest way for me to do this. And, obviously, I'm going to sell off the ones with the potentlally highest return first. It would be pointless to list a lot of average stuff that will be more time and work than they're worth.

I'm not getting any younger. It just seems that "Now Is The Time" to act on this before it's too late.

And the 875.....

This IS a Holy Grail!!

It was made in Perivale only for 6 months in 1938 before the 262 replaced it. I have one thats all original and there are maybe a couple more out there with replacement bags.

Its not gonna go for £105 believe me!!

I have a "vanguard" very similar with "full" tool kit. Mine is a 2081A with chrome hood rather than white, and a "lamae" squaretop bag. I'll bet this goes for a pretty penny!

Very nice Bill! Our family ended up buying the 1973 version of these Cordaway Rugulator Vibra Groomer Eurekas - the 2083 with flatter hood that can still be seen on many Sanitaires.

Here's my fondest memory of the advertising that Eureka did in 1970 for the Vanguard (it's the right side of a 2 page "Mother's Day" spread, so you only see half of the opening line....):

Brian

People can say what they want, but in my opinion, the "rugulator" height ajustment was one of the best made. I own several "dial a naps" and earlier eurekas with high/low rear axle, but rugulator could actually be set for just about every carpet type in the house, and really "fine tune" your ajustment.
