My childhood vacuum! Loved that machine, but the belt lifter never quite worked right. The converter would always pull out. My mother received it as a wedding shower gift in 1948.

I was wondering how the belt lifter worked, is the square bit the suction inlet?

Has anyone got any pictures of this cleaner? it looks very interesting

Vacbear 58--The square thing on the bottom of the coupler fit into a slot to help hold it in place. The round opening in the photo where the little girl is about to attach the hose is the suction inlet. You would twist that around and it would lift the belt and lock into place. I rarely got it to work right, but what did a six year old know?
