Hello.
I am going to be starting an unusual project. I am going to piece together a red and chrome round top Eureka upright. I have a 1400 Series Eureka with a 5.0 amp Sanitaire motor that I swapped into the machine replacing the 4 amp. I like it except it is blue which clashes with all of my other cleaning implements which are red. I am looking for a red base Eureka Upright or a Sanitaire base, handle, 6 position Dial-a-Nap knob, red bag and a chrome hood with headlight opening (not squared off style)that will work with the Dial a Nap. I have a photo of a red Eureka that I found on the internet for reference as far as the type of hood shape I am looking for. No copyright infringement, disrespect or offense intended to its original owner- I posted it for reference only. I decided that my ideal eureka would have a chrome hood (round) and chrome Sanitaire handle)or a royal/Electro Hygiene handle with the red grip which I think would be an interesting touch due to the toggle switch in the handle), a red Sanitaire bag and a Classic 3 cord which I would modify so it would work with the Eureka. My end result will be a red and chrome round top Eureka upright. Did they make a chrome hooded 2 speed machine with the speed control in the hood? I once had a teal and white Eureka 2 speed with the selector on the hood which I regrettably gave away. If anyone has any leads or machines they care to sell me for this project I would greatly appreciate it. On this note, has anyone had a Eureka Hood chrome plated? Is the cost reasonable? Any leads, machines, parts and info is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Derek. |

...but If you want a Eureka/Sanitaire vacuum with a Sanitaire motor, Sanitaire base, Sanitaire chrome handle, Sanitaire red bag, and a chrome hood, you don't have to fine one dead or alive...how about a new one?
...or possibly a used Sanitaire (oodles of them around)... ...or Sanitaire parts (easy to find and cheap to buy)... ;-P |

Get your current round-top hood sanded, then polished or chrome plated.
Then, buy this base and slap it on your current vacuum, along with whatever other parts you wish to use on this vacuum. I am guessing you want the resulting vacuum to look somewhat like this: CLICK HERE TO GO TO broomvac's LINK on eBay |

Exactly! That is exactly it!
I have been debating on attaching a royal handle with a red grip and cord then running the wiring so that it will turn on and off via the in handle toggle switch. I have never seen it done before. It will be a red and chrome cleaning masterpiece! I like the red handle bail on the Sanitaire ad. I am going to paint the handle bail red too. I originally wanted it in chrome, but I like the contrast that red will bring to it. Thank you for posting. The ad gave me a great Idea I would not have thought of on my own. |

is the source of that photo. (not my vacuum and never was, I just thought it was a cool looking Sanitaire, so I saved a picture from the listing) It's from a listing from many months ago. It's long ended. Sorry!
Though, many others like it show up with startling frequency. I would say one will certainly show up on Ebay within a month or two. Just keep looking! Or build your own! |
