Ok, so I finally won an auction on ebay for a Royal that I bid on, I won a farily decent looking Royal 4000 Classic upright (burgundy color) The metal still looks farily glossy on it and everything else looks good for it being slightly used and only $51.00. Can anyone tell me what year this machine was made? Any good points? Bad points? I like the Royals cuz they are just a retro loooking machine with a very simple design to them. One thing I did notice on it was that it looks like the wheels are pretty scratched and I found a place to get some new ones pretty cheap. Is is hard to replace the wheels on these?

Congrats on the Royal 4000. Royals and rebadged Royals (especially Electro-Hygiene) are some of my favorite vacuums. They're powerful, maneuverable, durable, fairly lightweight, and reasonably priced. And the attachment setup isn't THAT tricky--you just take off the adjust-o-rite cover, take the belt off the fan shaft, plug in the adapter, and attach the hose (unless you keep the hose connected to the adapter all the time like most folks do), and you're all set. Takes less time to actually do it than it does to describe it!! Jeff |
