Hi All,

Today I picked up the last of Australia's first Turbopower range. These three models made all made in Australia hit the market in 1985. Note how Hoover Australia keep on using the Convertible and Lark names on these machines.

The Convertible Deluxe U2320

Hi down there! Beautiful machines you have! Are they designed
by Australians? They look better than some of our models.

The Turbopower..

Was introduced in the UK in 1983- they were exported briefly to the US as the Sovereign. Early models are pretty thin on the ground now and starting to be collectable.

Good pickup

Hey Seamus,

Good pickup on the model numbers, that's what I get for trying to post messages after a bottle of wine. He he !!!

The Convertible shuould be U2318. The U2320 does have cord rewind and a two speed "Burst Of Power" button.

Alan,

I think the Turbopower range where designed by the Hoover UK team ???But the aussies played around with the design of both the Hard and soft bag models in later years.

Here's a pic of the last OZ made Turbopower soft bag with onboard tool know as the Breeze.

Wow...love those turbopowers...I have never seen one. I am not sure if we had them in the U.S. Are they loud? The Hoover Historical Center has a toy version in the box. I think it is the red model. The "Breeze" looks like a fairly big mess to me. How is the performance on it? By the way, Mark, I really really like your Hoover door in the background!

Motors....

They basically have the same design motor as the Turbomaster/Innovation, but less powerful and with a smaller bellows connection. Oddly tho they are actually slightly louder!

Hey Tom,

I know what you mean about the Breeze looking a bit of a mess, but it was Hoover's top selling upright in the 90's along with the standard non tool model.

Glad you like the hoove sign to, it's not thier all the time just for the photo shots. He He !!!!

And here's a pic of the UK bagless Turbopower. It's crap you turn it on and it sprays dust everywhere.

The Breeze..

Hey Mark

Thats defiantly one by Hoover Australia- we didnt have anything like it over here :(.

The Freedom Turbopower wasnt one of Hoover UKs greatest ideas to be polite!. There used to be a mod kit in the same colour to convert them to a standard model lol!!

I have just bought this very interesting Turbopower Junior Total System (Breeze) from Australian eBay, should be here in a few weeks.
Does anyone have any info on it?
