Okay, so recently there has been some discussion about the amount of threads that are created on Vacuumland which link directly to eBay.  In fact, the board discussed it during our board meeting at the convention last week.  Our long-term solution to the "For Sale/eBay" threads will be to create a new, 5th forum, solely dedicated to such topics.  But that's going to be a bit of work -- creating artwork, choosing new colors for the forums, adding a button to the homepage, etc...

The short-term solution to this is going to be this thread.  There will also be one in the modern forum.

Any and all links to anything VINTAGE vacuum-related on eBay need to be posted in this thread.  Once it gets too long, or too old, I will close it and start a new one.  Keep in mind, with this thread now going, if you start a new thread with a link to an eBay auction, I will DELETE it (I don't mean close it, I mean DELETE it).

So, here we go!  Let me know if you have any questions!

I'll start things off by linking to an auction for a very nice-looking Concept 1:

Thanks

Fred. This is going to work fine when up and running. This is just another act of consideration you and the board do for our club. Keep up the good work.

Should the back and forth discussion of such posted ebay items be curtailed as well? Otherwise the items posted are going to get buried.. What I'm saying is... you post your link and if for example it's your vac you're selling,, you post everything about it etc etc into that one post.. if anyone has questions they can email you privately... not have a volley of back and forths? Much the way is happening right now with me posting this..

Post# 152713 , Reply# 4   9/23/2011 at 17:57 (4,828 days old) by vac_whisperer ()

This is a great idea, Fred!

It will definitely clean up the forums.

So when you make the new forums, is it just one place for ALL ages of vacs, or is there going to be a subforum for ebay listings that are vintage, and a subforum for listing that are newer?

Sorry if that was confusing.  :/

Fred, I think this is a great idea as well.  I like to look at ebay listings but often don't have the time.  With the new forum it will be so easy with all of them in one place.  Thanks so much for all of your hard work.

Terry

Those eurekas have always fascinated me. That one is a little pricy considering its condition but they are decent cleaners so I hear- especially for hard floor cleaning.

Oh wow!

I just bought that same green Eureka Princess yesterday for $5.00!!! Mine didn't come with the tool pak and the red tool thing that goes inside was not there so I guess I'll just try to fit the tools inside behind the motor when i'm not using it. Had to take a break from grading papers and decided to go get some coffee and a stroll around Revivals thrift store. Little Green was sitting in the corner away from the other vacuums (plastic) and when I saw that $5.00 price tag I grabbed it.

EurekaPrince,,that Princess Model, the one that is 39.95,,,a relative of mine bought that exact model back in around 1972-73. I distintly remember the fake woodgrain top, and the red attachment holder that layed on the inside of the cannister.
They lived in a large farm house in West Central Wisconsin, and had NINE boys in the family,,nine brothers, one sister.
Of course this old farm house had mostly all worn out wall to wall carpet and wood floors.
This little Eureka Princess was a workhorse,,you can imagine cleaning up after 9 big burly farm guys every day,,comming in from the barn, fields, milkhouse, ect.
Besides running a large dairy farm, Those guys all played football, wrestled around, ect,,,all the time, so you can imagine how the carpet and floors in that house took a beating.
I know they had that Eureka for many yrs, and it never gave them any problems, and did last until after the boys were all grown and gone on their own.
I remember seeing it last about 25 yrs ago in the garage of the old farm house,,they were using it to clean out the cars. It was a little worse for the wear by then, but was STILL going.

Hey there Brian in Kansas!

What a neat story about the Princess!!!!! Amazing that that little vac was built well enough to perform its duties well in such a busy and "outdoorsy" household.

I always wished my parents would somehow get a Eureka canister vac to pair up with our Eureka upright. Mom found it would be easier to clean the carpeted stairs and our recreation room in the basement with a canister (instead of attaching the tools to the upright), but imagine my horror when Dad brought home a Sanyo canister for her and the cleaning lady!!! I was mortified! I can't imagine how humiliated our Eureka upright felt having to spend the rest of its days stored next to a vac from a completely different family/corporation!!! :-)

This is the reasons I don't use eBay-eJip,eRook.Sellers price their beat up machines much too high.Couple years ago bought two NEW Kirby Comvac 1600 from a dealer in Ohio-for far less than what that seller expects for his beat up one. These folks must be breathing too much dust from the bags of their beat up vacuums-That Kirby and the Bison.I want a Bison--but NOT that badly.and the one he's selling looks like a REJECT refugee from a swap shop.

1986 Royal Prince 501

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
Serial #M85E103128 (December 1985). Curiously, if Royal had been using the letter "I" for September in their serial # system by this point, obviously they must've made an oversight there with that "M"? To me, it should be L85E103128.

This Kirby by the belt lifter looks to be early 50's or older (can't see the vacuum very well in the pictures).

The attachments look almost new.

Yikes! Is that the Kenmore that was at the Convention? Or one just like it? This is the one with the 6 wheels that spins in it's own footprint...and other marvelous features.

Kitchenaid1 sounds like a familiar nickname. VCCC member?

I want the Kingston, too... and the Aerodyne just for the floor nozzle.

I have always wondered who that seller is! They always have some of the most beautiful machines on ebay.

Post# 156379 , Reply# 89   10/22/2011 at 09:54 (4,799 days old) by HooverCelebrity (Germany)

His name is Kenny.  He's a really nice guy, used to be a member of the club.  He was at the Louisville convention in 2002.  That's the last time I saw him. He does sell some very nice machines; I've purchased a handfull from him over the years.

That model 33 looks really nice; the bag doesn't look to be very faded, if at all.  Usually those model 33 bags turn to sort-of a greyish-purple color.  That one looks to be nice and vibrant, still.

I have it on good authority that's the "Agnes Moorhead" model. Perhaps Endora enchanted this bag to stay vibrant.

That 33 on ebay is very nice! I was blessed to come by a beautiful mint 33 from my friend in town.

It now resides in a proper Hoover home

WOW,,ive never seen a Janitronic like that before,,how cool is that!
Only problem is, good luck finding replacement parts, especially brush rolls.
Have heard that the belt is nearly impossible to change on these, since the rug nozzle is NOT removable, like it is on a regular Kirby.

I've listed a HUGE lot of 1950s-1960s Electrolux sales l

Hello, I wanted to let you know that I have listed another Electrolux auction.

It's for a huge lot of sales and demonstration literature that came from the estate of a man who sold Electrolux vacuums for nearly 50 years (the same man that the Golden Trophy Electrolux came from).

There are more than 100 pieces of literature. Most are 8.5" x 11" in size but some are much larger poster-size and some are much smaller postcard-size. If you'll look for it, you'll see that I placed a quarter on most of the images to show their size. (The quarter is not included in the auction!)

Some are single unfolded sheets, some are folded sheets, and some are booklets or pamphlets. There are also several hard-back notebooks here.

Below is the link to the auction.

I'll have a bunch more stuff to list real soon, including a Golden Power Nozzle, and about 20 reel-to-reel tapes from Electrolux sales conventions in the 1950s. I'll also have a Kirby Salesman's Manual on how to demonstrate and sell the "Sanitronic" model. This manual was in with the Electrolux papers -- guess the man was studying the enemy's techniques!

Thanks for your interest!

Kirby D50 Disguised as 560 or 561

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
The model tag seen in the fourth picture of this eBay auction confirms this Kirby is indeed a Dual Sanitronic 50. The serial # starts with "D" and also indicates this to be among the last D50s from early 1967, before the D80 replaced it that October.

1987 Royal 886 - With Two Slightly Different Parts

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
Make no mistake: this is a 1987 Royal 886 upright (serial #G87A003106 = July 1987) but it has a 1975-86 Adjust-O-Rite plate and the bag from its predecessor, the 880.

The 886 would normally use a blue Scafitex bag with the "Royal Five" logo as having a light blue background for the crown logo and "QUALITY SINCE 1905" and a dark blue space for the written-five-times Royal name.

The Adjust-O-Rite plug would also have the words "Adjust" and "Rite" on the top half of the pop-out stub area, with the bottom half of the circle having a drawing of the brushroll and belt. Since 1988, a warning encircled the bottom half: CAUTION: MOVING PARTS - UNPLUG BEFORE OPENING.

I love this thread, but it's gotten really long.  Time to close it and start a new one!
