It is!!! It's a Royal 880, packed and shipped so very very carefully, and just begging to be reassembled!

Fully reassembled, and ready to go to work on my dirty rug... (Normally it would never be that dirty. I haven't vacuumed for a few days so I could give this beauty a real test when she arrived.)

In her glory, bag inflated, headlight gleaming, ready to get down to business. Many many thanks to kirbyeureka95 for sending me this awesome vac, you never see Royals in my area. I have to say, after using it today, I really do prefer it to a Kirby. So much lighter and easier to manuver, and just as much cleaning power. I know some things, (bag and cord) aren't origional, but I'm ok with that. Shes still more streamlined and sleek than any Kirby made in the last 3 decades. (I think my Kirby G-3 is jealous now that she has a prettier sister in the house, lol)

Example: G81-B-12345

Thank you,

The serial # is M78-C-2612, and yes, it formerly belonged to Kirbyeureka95. He was kind enough to send it to me as he was letting go of some vacs from his collection. I do beleive I've fallen quite in love with it, so easy to use. Now if someone was just willing to sell me an attachment kit, even one of the all plastic sets, I would make this little doll my daily driver.

This 880 is Dated December 1978

And, would thus have a 3-amp motor. From 1981 to 1985 the 880 would have a 4.5-amp motor and from 1985 to end of production in March 1987 it grew to 5.4 amps.

So if it was manufactured in 1978, wouldn't it originally have had the baby blue vinyl bag with red lettering?

Post# 150218 , Reply# 14   9/3/2011 at 12:10 (4,617 days old) by vintagekitchen ()

yes. original bag would have been baby blue, as well as cord. These are replacements, but Im ok with that, especially since Royal is so rare around here.
