I just spent a fortune on E-bay the other day and I got Rainbow Scents, Rug Shampoo, and two new hoses one for my power nozzle and one for my other cleaning. It got me to thinking... What kind of hoses does everyone like? Do you like ones that control the entire vacuum or do you like ones with hand grips, do you like hoses that have both or do you just like ones that are just basic and standard?

I myself just like the basic and standard ones and thats pretty much what I bought. They are very similiar just a different darker color. For the power head the cord will just strap to the outside of the hose and plug directly into the unit and then I just change when I'm using the rest of the attachments. Then I have a third hose I use strictly for wet pickup and rug scrubbing.

I like hoses with 2 holes in them, one at the tool end, one at the motor end... :P

like tuflex... a lot. I especially like the cone-shaped "handle".  These were the best of HOOVER.  Now,  some of it is just bad swimming pool  hose. And,  you want a good hose,  right?

I like the basic older style, such as the Hoover Tuflex or the like. I also like having the control switch right at hand, incase I accidently pick something up Isometimes I can quickly shut off the vac before it gets stuck lol.

I love my old Kenmore hose it has the best of both, The older style curved hand grip and the on/off/PN on/off control.

I adore the tristar CXL style hose with the pistol grip.

Great hose length, really superb in terms of durability. A great design overall.

But I do enjoy having power controls at my fingertips. Suction as well. My electrolux Oxygen 3 has a great hose for that, although a little bulky.

I do also really love Rainbows gas pump grip with the power controls.

I love the older style braided hoses

Depends on my day/mood...

Electrolux-style (like this one here)
Braided/cloth hose (when its in good shape)
Crushproof (when I'm in a hurry)
Wire-re-inforced (when I want to take time vacing)

I wish the TriStar CXL hose handle had suction control; otherwise, its still the best canister vac I've ever used.

With my Rainbow I just like the regular hoses that it came with. I have always found that hand grips like the newer models are more uncomfortable and switches seem to just get in the way sometimes. The late 80's early 90's the Kenmore hoses were good with the way they had the switches on the hose set up.

I love hoses that have all the controls right in the handle. Such as on/off and power nozzle on/off, variable speed control is always nice too. I just love having everything right there at my fingertips.

I like.

Plain old type grips, I hate all the gas pump/pistol grip stuff, especially the newer Lux with the plastic wands, ok for floor cleaning, but not worth beans for dusting, etc.

I like the pistol grip like on the old electrolux hoses also.  So much lighter and less cumbersome to use when doing above the floor cleaning.

Simple...

I prefer the simple bent tube style hose ends, as this Miele one pictured below. Often find that hoses with built in ergonomic handles pinch my hand or are uncomfortable to use.

It is very rare for canister cleaners here to have a power hose (generally sold with a suction only floorhead, or a turbo brush)
