I've.....

bought a lot of stuff on craigslist, but not local. The problem with that is; craigslist itself advises against doing that and accepting MO's etc. I've never had a buyer just refuse me, but I've always had to pay full price and all the shipping etc. So....other than cheaper prices on the average, it's the same as ebay if you can't view the item in person. Except that there is no PayPal protection on craigslist.....

That Beautiful Kirby

compactelectra's profile picture

Is mine.  One of them at least.  If you look closely at the D50 ad, those are two different machines - the one on the right is a rebuild.  The one on the left is mine in the picture I took of it in one of the vacuum rooms.  These pictures were lifted from this site.  Are they selling the machines pictured?  Better not, 'cuz one is in my basement!  Definitely dishonest.

Both those kirby pictures were taken off this site from 2 different members.

That aint right. I bet it doesn't look half as nice either.

"lifted" pictures

What a sham!  They couldn't even be bothered to lift two pictures of the same machine instead of two totally different models!

Should mention.

The right one is Morgan Frazers. Its an early 500 series. Noticed the curves on the nozzle front go straight down, rather than curving as on later models.

No KIRBY logo lightup piece. Different belt lifter too.

I recognize your basement carpeting! What a thief! How blatant can you be?

The cheating little mother f____r! Is this legal? What are the rules of Craig's list?

Craigslist is very proactive about going after evildoers. All you have to do is bring scams to their attention and they will remove the listings immediately. And with repeat offenders, they will ban them from the site.

If you post pictures in a public forum, then someone's bound to come along and "steal" them, if it's in the public domain, then it's open to re-use with or without the owner's permission...

I really don't mind people using the images I post on the internet.  What bothers me is trying to cheat people by using those images.

That's very true. However, the issue is not with the photo being used per se, but with the photos being used in an apparent attempt to defraud potential buyers. The seller does not state, "Photos as found on the internet," so the implication is that he's presenting them as photos of the machine he's selling. Notwithstanding the fact that he apparently doesn't pay close attention to details and failed to notice that he got photos of two different models.
