Last year I bought a Compact Electra off E-Bay but forgot about it till Tuesday. Did some cleanup and wanted to try it out but the hose is shot. So, today, I decided to get a replacement. The vac shop I usually try was closed so I went to the other shop in town. Owner told me they don't do work on Compacts and have no hoses. I asked if I could purchase generic hose and have the ends put on and he told me he never heard of such a thing! Course, he put in a plug for buying a new Miele.

Also, the Polish Aire attachment doesn't work. I took it apart and everything appears to be there but I couldn't get it to operate when I tried it on another vac. Any ideas?????

n.b., the Compact polisher works off the blower air, not the suction as do most air-powered attachments. If you connected it to the suction end it would not work. I will say, also, those Polish-Aires were hardly performance dynamos! They do spin at a pretty good clip but as soon as you touch them to a floor they slow down to nearly nothing, because there are no reduction gears to give any torque, and the friction against the floor all but completely stops the brushes from spinning.

well, no wonder.....!

I'm really having a blonde day today! Never thought to try it using the blower so will do that shortly. Thanks, Charles.

Well I find it quite strange that the vac shop u went to said they don't have any hoses because I know a tristar hose will fit and I don't see why you couldn't get one with no power I know I have one that my friend made me all he did was take the existing ends and like u said put a generic hose on then engenious if you think about it and I don't see why the vac shop couldn't do it. But good look finding what you are looking for. Zach

never go to that vac shop again....

Goadie is right.....a straight suction Tristar hose would be the same thing.....

and i have NEVER heard of a vac shop say such a thing as not being able to make a generic hose.....ive had coustom hoses for Airways, Compacts, Hoover Constellations, Eureka canisters etc....... that's bull!

and if push comes to shove, ill tell you what is not even hard to do....if you can even get your hands on the length of hose that you want....and some Pliobond glue....and two couplers....and email me i can walk you though it....its not near as hard as it sounds....

I'm betting he just didn't want you to see how GREAT that Compact works. I'd put any one of mine up against just about any other brand. I'm partial to Lewyt (grew up with one) and Filter Queen (just so dern cute) but Compacts have some powerful suction. Hie thee to your regular shop and let them fix you up a hose. You'll be tickled pink.
