Definitely the Hoover 825.

I'm on a hunt for this machine. The pic is from another vacuum lander.

For me it is a tie between hoover convertibles and kirbys.

At the moment I will say Kirby Tradition, but I'm sure there are other OLDER cooler vacs that I might one day call my favorite. :)

At the moment, my favourite is split between my two Trads, the regular one and the gold one, for different reasons of course (the gold one cos it's rare, and the blue one cos it's the one Kirby I recall playing with as a kid at my grandma's, though not the same Kirby, just the same model!!), I am sure that opinion will probably change once my D80 gets here (which I guess won't be today, sadly)... :)

Kirby Tradition

I love the colors on it that royal blue looks so nice with the polished metal and of course it cleans well just like any other kirby, my only problem with it is the suction relief holes in the hose end and wands...could use a four row brushroll too but that can wait

Hey.....

That Hoover Model 70 with the headlight is very pretty in blue! I think my first vacuum was like that; without the headlight and in pink....bought around '74.

Blackheart

You can put a 4 brush aggitator in your Tradition. All you need is an aggitator for the Heritage model. The ends on the aggitator are the same as on all the 16" kirby models. I have put them in Classic models and Classic Omega models. The 4 brush aggitator works GREAT in those older machines.

As for the hose end. I put tape over the holes or you may be able to locate the metal hose end with out the air bleeder holes. (use scotch tape anything more will cause breakage of the tools attached due to stress)

Any canister, but probably most favorite would be a Kenmore. or a Westinghouse.. Here is a 59 WH.

Visions of rainbows dancing in my head.

What a fabulous wall of wonder! That's amazing. I think I just died and went to heaven. Can I have my wall painted like that. Or move in????

That certainly is the most artistic display of a collection I've seen.  The alternating DAMs on the wall was a brilliantly creative idea, and a great space-saver as well.  Hoover really excelled at making cleaning a "colorful" experience!

I'm fond of all my vintage vacuums but the one that probably carries the most meaning is my Hoover 700.  My parents had one when I was born.

This was PART of

Mr. Jeff Parker's fab collection.  I was there when we were at the convention in Chicago.  My  good friend Tom,  in Ohio, has the DAM s displayed that way, too.   I leave there inspired.   HOOVER did love color,  didn't they?

Gummihoovers..LOL!!!

I guess as for favorite vintage vacuum-or favorite vacuum of all time, for that matter- is the Kirby Tradition. It's been my favorite since before I even had one! It also will have a special place in my heart because it was my first resto project.
