I have been trying to figure out how to remove the plate on the bottom of the power nozzle. I have removed the bottom screws, but it seems hung up on something? I am sure the answer is right in front of my face, but I am at a loss! lol

The screws not only hold the bottom plate in place but the chrome housing on top too.  The bottom plate has tabs which fit into slots near the front bumper.  You service the brushroll and belt from the top side though....counter intuitive!

Thanks for the response Neil. It seems to be "caught" in the area where I have circled red. It also appears there is a slot here. I attempted to place a screwdriver in there, thinking perhaps it was a release tab. No dice! This really was a filthy machine that I picked up (granted it was a dollar find) but soon it will be back in action!

a picture is worth a thousand words

There's a little clip that snaps into place in the spot you circled.  Here's what it looks like.

I Remember:

when I first took my PN-2 apart to change the brushroll I had the SAME issue trying to remove the shoe from the bottom of the PN. If you push back on the shoe (toward the wheels) while lifting it up, it should come out easily.

Ditto.....

I too had the same trouble with the PN 2 and at some point it just separated. Great pic of the little clip! I still have to polish the top and put mine back together.;-)

take the top off then take off the brush roll cover,,then you can see the mentioned clip...use a flat screwdriver to release clip from top side.
