Today's vacuum of the day. A Hoover Slim-Silouhette Convertible. Does anyone know what colors these came in? And maybe what years they were made? I think these are the best looking Convertibles that I've seen. Never heard of them before though. Thanks for any help.
The vacuum of the day shows the Convertible Model 66. It was produced in 1959 through 1960 I believe. I also believe the Convertible, which started with model 65 in 1957 (Pink)had a wider bag and then the slim silhouette started with the pictured model 66. Various similar Convertibles(67 - 70) were produced through 1966 in a different pink, a light green (Neptune green) and a couple shades of blue (I know Fred S and others know the specific color names). There were many popular Convertibles during these years without headlights in a variety of colors including a Lilac Purple that was supposedly made in honor of actress Agnes Moorehead, who loved purple and was said to know the Hoover family.
In 66, a different TOL Convertible with a more rectangular headlight lens was introduced and the pictured style continued on as a lower line model into the early to mid 70s. During many of these years, the Convertible was also produced for Penney's and marketed under the Pencrest Label. Many great vacuums during these years.
