Today was the perfect day for garage saling, so my dad and I did just that. First we hit up a church rummage sale, which had an Electrolux XXX with all unoriginal tools for $10, so I left that there. Next we went to a really big neighborhood sale where I had the best luck! The first vacuum I found was an early 2000's Bissell upright. It is in such sad condition, but I bought it because my parents had one of these and it was one of the best vacuums we had ever owned. Unfortunately it was lost when we moved in 2003, and nobody knows exactly what happened to it. This one runs, but not the best. The bearings are going bad.

The next sale I found an early 2000's Kenmore upright. I love these, and I have the BOL model at home. This has all of the attachments and a good brushroll! It runs great.

As we were driving along I saw something and my heart about skipped a beat. A 1993 Dirt Devil Stick Vac Plus! I jumped out of the car and grabbed it right away for $5 and loads of bags! I have been looking for one of these for the longest time because we used to have one for our camper.

Sitting right next to the Dirt Devil that I didn't even notice was a VERY BOL Kenmore canister. This was $5 as well, so I bought that. This runs absolutely flawlessly! It just needs a cleaning.

The last one came from a different subdivision sale. I completely forgot about this subdivision sale until my dad reminded me, and I didn't plan on going, but my dad said you never know, so we headed over. From the corner of my eye I saw a familiar dusting brush and I flipped out! It was a complete Electrolux 1205! I was so excited to find this because at the first church sale I had told myself that it would be cool if this was a newer style Electrolux instead, and the last vacuum I found just happened to be that! The hose is obviously a replacement, but I'm happy because it is actually a reliable hose. This runs so nice! And it came with bags! The only problem was the hose was clogged with Christmas Tree pine needles, which is obviously no problem.

I forgot to mention that I only paid $5 for the Electrolux as well! The lady said it was her grandmothers.

Lux 1205

That's a late-mdl (Late 1972-73) 1205; right before the 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee.

Chase,
Boy those are some nice finds! I remember when I was young if I DID find a used vacuum my parents would NOT have allowed me to bring it to the house or even get it. I can hear it now-"You are not bringing someone else's filthy old sweeper in this house"-lol
The Lux looks like it is in very good condition for 40 years old.

I forgot to post these. That morning I went to a house with my dad so he could give a lady an estimate on a job, and we walked into the boiler room, and it was literally filled with vacuums! I told the lady I collected that and she said she needed someone to fix them and laughed. So I asked if she'd want to get rid of any, and she said I could take any of them besides a Bissell Power Force and a Dyson DC07 Pink. The Dyson needed a new belt, and she said she wanted to get it fixed, but my dad and I knew that it wasn't going to get done, so he is going to try and get it for me. But there was also a black Windtunnel Supreme, Dirt Devil Featherlight, 2 yellow Kenmore Progressives, and a Hoover Dimension Supreme. I took the Dimension and the 2 Kenmores. The Hoover has a bad fan, so that is going in the trash. But the two Kenmores sound fantastic, and the insides of them are almost spotless! They both need bottom plates, attachments, one needs a hose, one needs a back hepa filter. I'm going to clean them up and get the parts and one will be mine and the other will go to Kyle.

If anyone has used on of these, the yellow ones that is, have you noticed the amazing slow startup sound? It sounds awesome! I have the TOL Blue Direct Drive model and it doesn't do that! So that's really neat.

Hey Chase, I have the sunflower yellow Kenmore. I purchased it new at Sears a few years ago. You are right it does have a distinct "slow" startup sound.

Mine has developed a loud air leak that I need to track down & fix.

You probably know already, but there is an air-powered hand tool that stows there on the handle right above the dirt sensor lights.

This model also features a Power-Flow dual chamber bag system that provides sustained power to clean, even as the bag fills with dirt.

Have fun with your new finds! :)

My Progressive with Intelliclean and my Intuition upright have that feature and it is awesome! It is a great idea and there is always constant suction!
