Does anyone know what modern-day belt can be substituted for the original Kenmore (Bugeye) Imperial belt? After many years of being in storage, my Imperial is finally out of storage and in need of a new belt. The one it had looks fairly large and flat

....help???

Can you give us an approximate size. I have a friend with one and could ask what he uses too. I believe it uses a similar belt to delco machines.

It's too stretched out of shape to tell what it is supposed to be....perhaps when re-formed into a perfect circle....about

3 3/4" across, and about 1/2" wide....??

Perhaps a Dial A Matic power-drive belt?  Not the agitator belt, but the one that controls the power drive?  Or a Hoover Elite belt, or even a Dial A Matic agitator belt.  those are all somewhat narrow, and vary in diameter.

I think it was the elite or dam belt that worked. That sounds quite familiar. I sent my buddy an email asking about it.

John, it seems to me that Stan used Hoover Elite belts in his Imperial but won't swear to that. You might get one and see how it fits.

Take the old belt to a vac store and match it up with one slightly smaller allowing for the stretching that has occurred.

Thanks, all. I will see what works. The DAM power drive belt rings a bell...
