Yes,

Many of us feel a very close attachment to our vintage vacuum cleaners.

@rickenbacker I was wondering the same thing... with the first scenario the more likely one.......

"AND WA, LA,"  ??!

And WA LA!

Thanks for backing me up Charles :)

Let's try to keep in mind - this is a brand new forum user and is perhaps trying to share his enthusiasm for Kirbys. I wonder how I would feel if this were my first post, and I read what followed my message.

Dwayne, I must say though - the use of capital letters makes it look as if you are yelling!

Rick

That may well be the case, Rick. But there's just something off-kilter about this posting -

- a new user's first posting containing pretty frank discussions of his "unusual" sexual proclivities

- the peculiar spelling & grammar (wa,la ??!)

- and, as you noted, THE USE OF ALL-CAPS WHICH PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE KNOWS IS A NO-NO

But who am I to judge, I guess.......

Please don't start this hate/anger posting again. This is why so many people have left the club. Let people have their own opinions. PLEASE !!!!!

No one's angry; no one's hating. Well, speaking only for myself of course. Just commenting on what seems to be a rather bizarre posting, and possibly, as Rickenbaker noted, someone"taking a piss" (e.g., poking fun at this forum). When you're the webmaster for a web site that has a public forum, you start seeing "familiar patterns" with certain kinds of postings.

If I'm shown to be mistaken, I'll apologize immediately of course. But so far, "KIRBYDUDE" has not returned to comment further.

Look at the profile...

of Kirbydude.

A very strange and rather inarticulate posting for someone born in 1955.

"A good looking woman, cleaning with the hose and attachments, hearing the motor scream up and down, WA-LA heaven on earth"

I do not know how to interpret that other than as blatantly sexually suggestive.

The last line in his profile "If you don't see things my way, look harder"

Kirbydude, if you really are a vacuum cleaner aficionado, please feel free to post here and share the passion we share. If you are repelled by the fact that many of the posters/members here are gay, all I can say is "We'll play nice if you do" That has been my experience, at least.

Trebor

Sorry, but how is what's been said in this tread any different than bullying?  Plain and simple.

While I, too, read this thread a few times to try and glean the point -- I agree with what Rick said.  This is someone's first posting on the website, let's give him the benefit of doubt.

I have my ways of seeing where these posts are coming from; don't think I'm not checking.  While I appreciate people bringing suspicious things to my attention via EMAIL (please!), going forward, if there's going to be any questioning of "familiar patterns", I'm going to be the one doing the questioning.

I apologize on behalf of the club to KirbyDude... please don't let this criticism of your first post prevent you from further engaging yourself in our website.

Fred

Welcome Kirbydude,  I will look forward to seeing your pictures when you can post them.  How many machines do you have in your collection?  I have always felt that Kirby's are a work of art.

Terry

Well, here I sit before a large dish of humble pie.

Kirbydude, I am VERY SORRY that I misjudged or misinterpreted your first message.

And may I say, I too am a true-blue Kirby aficionado! (However, there is no sexual component to my interest in them -- simply deep nostalgia, along with great appreciation of the design and aesthetics.)

At the moment, the oldest Kirby I have is the 1910 Franz Premier (not in working order). I have two Scott & Fetzer Sanitation System machines, one of them a rare "retail" model with the switch in the handle. Then a Model 1R (not in working order), a 1C, a 2C, and a complete set of all the 500 series (505 through 562), most of them in all-original condition and many of them complete with all the attachments, accessories, cartons, instruction booklets, etc.

Below is a link to my web pages entitled "The 500 Series Kirby Vacuum Cleaner," very much a work in progress but fairly complete.

Again, welcome, and again, many apologies. Especially if the curiosity I expressed came off as "bullying." I =CERTAINLY= did not mean it that way.

KIRBYDUDE

I too apologise. Surely you can understand where I'm coming from though, us vacuum enthusiasts have all suffered grief at some point in our lives do to our bizarre obsession, of course at 14 it doesn't really bother me too much any more but it still gets my goat a bit. Sorry for snapping and err just a pointer, whatever floats your boat is YOUR business, try to keep it in the bedroom, or ... cleaning cupboard, not on the forum, there could be kids reading :P

Again, deepest apologies, Charlie :)

THANK YOU FROM KIRBY DUDE !!!

the reason i used cap letters is if you wear reading glasses it is much easier to see.i do appreciate the kind apologies & input to a first time user.i will admit my first posting might have had some hot sauce spilled on it.i am just an amature collector. sometimes i blurt, but with time most things get better.i did not mean to inflame anyone, that was not my intention.yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my dad passing, it was a sad day.my mom is in a nursing home so my plate has been full & running over this past year. plus i am recently unemployed & being the only child i am hit with everything, but i am a survivor! i have strong shoulders but at this time they are on skates to keep the off the floor.i do'nt look for sympathy, just strength & support. so thanks again for your patience.

I too say welcome KirbyDude...

Mr. Lester, do you have any photos you could share of the Frantz Premier? Also, how was Scott and Fetzer affiliated with Premier? I thought Frantz Premier was its own entity, became the New Premier (somewhere around 1919) and finally just Premier. Didn't they merge with General Electric some time later?
