a project that's been waiting to be finished......this has been sitting in my vacuum room since i moved int the new house and maybe a summer or two before that.... Phillip found this at one of his famous trash digs in KC.....but somehow or another i weaseled him out of it.....and it needed a cord (and for this machine i REFUSE to put a generic white convertible replacement), and it also needed a white original convertible switch.....so i found the parts got it finished and scrubbed and touched it up and.....here you go a wonderfurs Hoover Converible 1076!

One of my faves

I love this Convertible. It's from '72, and it's so amazing. Ron

and John.....i love your forever beautiful example of this machine......i only wish i had the pleasure of getting one of those new>..i was born in the wrong era....i was born when the remnants of  the 60's 70's were around and it was all kinda mashed together.....it sucks :(

looks good
you know the only reason I let it go to you was because I already had one and I didn't think it looked good enough to sell on Ebay. WAhahahaha and you thought I was a nice person. Congrats it does look 1,000 times better and i'm glad you enjoy it and it's out of my way so I can fill that space with something else I don't need.

I also love my Hoover 1076

and I have the matching tilted constellation with it (that I fought a hoomless person for) I should be ashamed, but I'm not!!! I love both of the vacs if I wasn't a Kirby lover through and through these two vacuums would be my favorite ones..... Dan

Dan, you did WHAT?

Is this one of those stories better told after a few beers? I don't know what sounds crazier, a homeless person wanting to hang on to a vacuum cleaner, or you fighting him for it? Give us the dirty details. Inquiring minds want to know!

Homeless man vs. Hoover constellation

Well this is a true story! When I lived in California my best friend and I always went thrift shopping on Saturdays. This one paticular saturday I think it was in June my friend and I were on our way over to go clean out a friends house who moved to Hawaii and left everything behind she said we couldtake or do whatever we wanted to do with all the stuff. Anyway I am getting ahead of myself. We were driving over to that house when we went by a goodwill thriftshop. It was early in the morning so they weren't open yet. As we drove by the side of the building we saw a big pile of stuff someone had dumped off in the night. Well right in the middle of this stuff sat two homeless guys and next to one of them was this beautiful Lemon yellow and gray constellation... I screamed at my friend STOP THE CAR!!!! I jumped out and ran over to the Constellation and went to grab it and the homeless man beat me to it. He said that was his vacuum he saw it first. I said what are you going to do with it your homeless. He said he lived a few blocks from there in a halfway house and he was going to use the Constellation to clean his room. The constellation had all the attachments with it and none of it the vacuum or the tools looked like they had never been used.Anyway it didn't have a bag in it and I told the guy that the vacuum was so old you couldn't get parts for it. And he said he didn't care it was his and he wasn't giving it up. So sadly I got back in the car and my friend and I went on our way to clean this house.Well four hours later we were done so we went home. Well I had been thinking about that Poor Constellation all day long. Well when we got homeI had an old hoover Elite upright that had all the tools but was in pretty bad shape(Cord was all taped up brushroll was all worn down etc.) Well I put that Elite in the car and when back over clear across town to that Goodwill just praying that that homeless man was gone and left the Little Constellation behind.. BUT NO!!!! there he sat with this pile of junk and my Constellation. I ran up to him with my heart beating in my throat and I asked him remember me. He said yes you are that man that wants my Vacuum.. I said to him calmly do you really need it to clean your room at the halfway house or are you just being stingy? Well he said that he wanted it to clean his room, so I told him come over to the car I have something for you. I showed him the Elite I had in the trunk and told him this vacuum you can still get bags and belts for. I will give it to you if you willl trade me the constellation for it. He said he was waiting for his friend to come get him to help him carry the stuff home, I told him I would give him the vacuum that I had brought him and take he and all of the stuff he had to his halfway house if he would give me the Little Hoover Constellation and he said okay. so we loaded the stuff in my car and I took him five blocks to his room. When I helped him carry all his stuff to his room. I gave him $20 and went home and I and my little Hoover have been happy ever sent....... Dan

Whew...

That's not such a bad story. He would not have given Connie the care she deserves.
I'm sure he needed the 20.00 worse.
