It sure is Hans, can you tell us more about it and why it plugs in?  Looks like some kind of moth attachment....

Very cool!  It looks like it's in great shape.  Is that gadget an air-freshener?  I'd love to know more!

Not Really.....

They sold it as a air purifier, you attach it to the blower of the machine, plug it in to the side in the outlet shown, turn it on and let it heat up a few minutes, then add triethelene glycol with an eye dropper to the pad on top, the heat vaporizez the liquid and a fog like haze appears almost instantly, works well with menthol or eucalyptus also , it is basically a small fogging machine. Tania "Airwaylady" knows more about Thompson products than I do, She got me the dolly and tools for this machine as well as the instruction book, I have had the machine about 15 years, a friend found it at a yard sale, I had never heard of it before, I packed the bearings and the motor is dated Oct 55, so according to Tania, that is the first year of production, it was sold as a second line to the Silver King, but I like it better.
