Why this Kirby won't run.

It happens all the time on ebay.  The dilemma is: do you send a message to the seller, or let them persist in their ignorance?

I let them luxuriate in their ignorance. I've found that 9 times out of 10 when I write a seller to point out a mistake in their listing or some other discrepancy, my comments are not well received. And, generally speaking, the crummier the stuff they're selling, the more likely they're gonna be hostile and defensive. One just seems to go with the other somehow.

For the one or two sellers who have appreciated good information on their listings, it's not worth "doing my good deed for the day" given all the MANY more "Whoo due you thank you are misster no it awll, mine youre oan buzinis an but outt asshoal" responses I've received.

I tend to agree with Charles,

However there are exceptions.  Case in point, a lady had posted an auction with a pretty complete set of attachments, including a rug renovator and miracle head for a Classic Omega.  Only problem is they were really for a Sanitronic Dual 50.  I sent the following e-mail to the seller:

Dear countryattics,

The attachments you show are for a Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50, not a Classic Omega. If someone with an Omega buys them, they will need a different hose because of switch differences. The one manual you have looks like an Omega manual, but the attachments are definately DS50.

Within half an hour, I got the following response:
Dear jfalberti,

Thank you SO MUCH! I am going to revise the ad, I sure appreciate your information! I would have had someone mad at me and it was a very honest error!
Thanks again!
Dawn

She did revise the auction with the correct information.  Like Charles said, though, nore often than not, the person gets upset because you question their "expertise".  I don't usually correct a seller, but sometimes I get the feeling that they may appreciate being pointed out the error they have made.

I saw that just last night and thought about posting a topic about it. The head actually appears to maybe be of a 560 or 561.

It's a ds50

The paper label is still affixed to it. The ds50 belt lifter is a lot like the Sanitronic/Sani VII. The DS50 is the first model with the Rug Renovator. Also you can tell the RR is from the DS50 by the color.

Don't tell....

Please, please, please... don't tell him what's wrong. I am thinking about bidding on it... or letting him re-list it at a lower price. I need a 1CR power plant to go along with a nozzle that I have that has had it's 'wing' clipped. If you tell him what's wrong he might switch the nozzle and expect to get more money for it.

Ok, my mistake.... It's on Omega, but I'd still like to have one of those too.
