I have been trying out the newly released Hoover Disinfecting Steam Mop. I didn't really need it as I have a Hahn Steam Mop that I really like, but I was intrigued to try this one out. It is very sturdily built and less like a toy than some of the Steam Mops I have tried (Hahn not included in that). The triangular base swivels nicely to get into corners.

This one has a two tank system and gives you the option to use a disinfectant along with water, or you can use water alone. The disinfectant supposedly kills 99.9 of germs. If you use the disinfectant detergent, the dial on the front of the unit is used to control the amount of disinfectant that is used. It heats up quickly and it does not release steam unless you squeeze the trigger so you can control how much steam is used.

The pads are nice and thick, but I have to say this leaves more water on the floor than the Hahn. I believe that is intentional because the instructions say that when using the disinfectant it must remain on the floor and air dry to be effective. It definitely takes a couple minutes longer for the floor to dry than with the Hahn.

Chris

View from different angle

The circular handle is very comfortable to use and it does glide nicely. Definitely an improvement over the Shark Steam Mop, if not the Hahn.

I'll be interested to see what the reviews end up looking like. At $150, it's cheaper than a lot of the good steam mops on the market, but many in that price range end up being useless.

I've got tons of concrete floors in my house and I would love to use a steam mop instead of a sponge :(

There's a demo of this on HSN's channel on youtube. It looks pretty cool. But I already had a steamer I bought a LONG time ago and use it occasionally
