This is taboo when dealing with a true resto I know, but for those aluminum parts on a Kirby that are beyond recovery ao far as buffing hasanyone ever expiremented with painting the aluminum in retro colors?

Oh, I don't know if it's all that taboo - if the parts really are that bad. But most of the cast aluminium on a Kirby is very thick and unless there are holes in it. severe damage etc., I would think that they could be brought back up with some heavy-duty wheel polishing. If they need to painted to keep an otherwise good machine in the line-up, then yeah, they can be painted.

Hope this helps -

Rick

I used to have a D80 that had a very badly tarnished exterior and I had planned to paint it a medium grey, but never got around to it. It was given to the local thrift store durring a 'down sizing' that I should NEVER have done. The next time I have a tarnished Kirby I WILL paint it, but I might find a prettier color to do it in... maybe something like Coral or Teal.
