I think these 2 are in fair condition for their age? They keep their place in the foyer in the corner on display as people walk in the door(I may add a Hoover or two against the wall across from the front door

Both are indeed old! Hehe.

Very nice machines you have! Would love to see more of that left machine. Is that a premiere?

Do they run?

Do any of these machines acutally run? Would be neat to see them actually run.

Looks like they are running! If not, the bags would have to be stuffed. But those cords are going somewhere.

Just curious, are either of these machines pre 1915? If so do they have the original Edison screw on plug?

1937 Royal Vacuum

@JohnnyB59C
Am I led to believe that the name "Jason" that appears on your 1937 Royal refers to some dealer whose first name is Jason, or perhaps a last name like that of Stark?

Also... I'd like to know the model # of your '37 Royal. Thank you very much.

~Ben

AH! Its an America!

My friend has one of those. Very cool vacuums!! I think they might be the same model possibly.

I understand that you are a huge fan of the early machines too, and that you have quite the collection! You should list in your profile some of the machines you have.

Here's the story about that Jason upright. Quite a few years ago John Lucia came for a visit (or was it Mike Pupek? or was it Hans Craig? Good Lord, the brain damage!). We went thrifting one day and found the Jason at a yard sale.

We both thought of Jason Davis and I decided I wanted to send the Jason vacuum to him as a surpruse. But it was badly tarnished and really needed a spa treatment. So I sent it to Bob Kautzman to spruce up for Jason and then send it to him.

When Bob finished with it, it literally looked brand new. Needless to say, Jason was quite surprised to get it! And I'm glad to see he still has it!!

P.S.: As far as I know, no one ever has been able to figure out where the Jason came from. It's clearly a Royal. Some of Royal's preferred customers can order "vanity" machines with their store name instead of the Royal brand, e.g., Starks in Portland, Oregon. Apparently there was a Jason Vacuum Cleaner company somewhere.

P.P.S. Good to see you here Jason!

Yay! I was right.

I am quite fascinated with these early kenmores.

Someone on Craigslist emailed me with one for sale locally. They are asking $250 for it though, which is out of my price range.

A little newer than yours. Maybe 8-10 years newer?

Brandon, those folks will live to be a ripe old age before they get anywhere nearly that much for their old Kenmore.

Definitely a kenmore! Must have been a deluxe model.

Its missing the tag near the bullet nose that would have said Kenmore.

There is a guy in town who turns these machines into art. Like space ships, jet packs and so much more!

Well the yellow and black box is Obviously the Ghost trap. :P

That is really an ingenious creation! My little brother was Venkman one year for Halloween.

I was thinking of getting a Kenmore commander from a local vacuum shop, however I realized it would probably be too heavy and large for him to carry. So I made the box using some UPS box, painting it, and sticking a kirby hose out the side. Was really cute!
My mom had sewn an entire one piece uniform for him too, with little patches and stuff from ebay.

I DO HOPE that wasn't made into "art:..I have been looking for that one for years, It is indeed a Kenmore, But the first ones were called Commander Imperials, the Kenmore name was not on them, the detachable cord dates it to just before WW2 I believe, of course a Birtman product, This one is hard to find!!!

Woah!  No I hadn't, but I just checked it out on YouTube.

Being an avid Kirby fan, I found issue with this scene.

To start, assuming proper Toe-Touch height adjustment, that Lego block couldn't get into the nozzle without the woman tilting the nozzle over to suck it up, which she did not do.

Next, the fans for Kirbys are direct-air impellers, not fans behind screens as shown in the scene.

Finally, Kirby never had a "Bag Full" indicator light.  At least, not to the best of my knowledge.

Oh, Hollywood... how you have tainted the image of Kirby.  LOL

Royal 239

kirbyclassiciii's profile picture
I've noticed that the model number on the Royal Jason says 239. It looks similar to the 215, but not much info seems to exist for the 239.

The most recent patent on the plate listed is 2,259,855, which was filed on September 10, 1938 and issued on October 21, 1941, which means I was not too far off regarding when exactly this had been made.
