I havnt really taken apart a kirby fully before- the most ive ever done is remove the bag and emptor off. I just dont take them apart because i am afraid i wont get them back together. So i was wondering how to take apart a Kirby Sanitronic 50/80 to put in new bearings. Help?

In order to service the bearings, you'll need a couple of special tools besides a screw driver. The first is a fan locking tool. Usually an ice pick or a scratch awl will serve this purpose. Or you can get the tool that Kirby makes. The second tool you'll need is a bearing puller, which you'll need to get from Kirby. You'll need to use it to pull the rear bearing from the armature. You can get those tools from A007Kirbyman. He's a club member and you can find his contact information in the member profiles. Once you get those tools, several of us can guide you through the procedure.

OK, thanks! I might have to stop at my local Kirby parts center later on today.
