Hi,

Names Chuck I'm from the Seattle area. I had a Hoover suitecase vacuum as a kid to clean the house around 1971-72.
I believe it was from around 68-69. I have seen advertising for this vacuum as early as 66 but no later then 69. This was a really fun vac as a small kid. all the attachments snapped in behind the cover and the house coiled up with a retracting cord. All self contained. Looks like they were modified somewhat by 72 with big wheels on the side.

Any recollections?

Thanks
Chuck Gerchow

The last Suitcases were produced in 1980. The last Suitcase Deluxe was made in 1979, to be replaced by the Portapower S1029 (with wheels).

The Hoover Portable debuted in 1963! I learnt this from the experts here at Vacuumland. I was trying to find out which came first: the Hoover Portable or the Sunbeam Courier, which was also a suitcase vac, but only stored 3 tools inside.

Ok the model I had as a kid had to have been between 1966 and 1969. It looked virtually unchanged in those years. Saw ad for 1972 and they had attached wheels on the suitecase vac for that year.

My vac was kind of pistachio green had portable on the handle in long hand. also had the hoover brand logo embossed in the motor cover.

Remember in the early 80's picking another one up at a garage sale. it was two tone brown base with tan top. Wish I could have kept that one.
