Hi everbody! Here's some photo evidence of the Hoover I hinted at a while back. I'd love to know what year this was from so I can look for advertisements and other material about it. It's such a nice vacuum. This is the first Hoover in the collection and it's also the first to go: it made somebody VERY happy this Christmas!
After cleaning it up we changed the two filtration pads inside and updated it to HEPA filtration. This baby is clean and sparkly and purrs like a kitten! (Or actually I think it roars like a lion!) |

Now here's an interesting trivia question (don't know the answer, though):
Which vac came first - the Sunbeam Courier or the Hoover Portable? Both seem to be "suitcase" vacs with tools stored inside. And both were on the market at about the same time (late 60's, early 70's). But I am curious who thought of this idea first. Was it Sunbeam, or Hoover? |

Well, the Portable came out in 1963, it uses the same motor as the Dial-A-Matic (which also came out that year). Not really sure about the Courier. |

bagintheback, those are great advertisements. Thanks for sharing!
We actually installed the HEPA filter material ourselves. When we cleaned and restored the vac, the old filter material had to go. And 15brandon, thanks for that link. But I am suddenly confused. VacWorld.org? Vacuum Collectors Association? Is this a splinter group that broke away from Vacuumland and the VCCC? (Or vice versa?) Had no idea that there were that many of us out there ... even multiple sites and clubs! Wow! |
