This time, the Hoover hunt was in northern MO Friday and Saturday, where at Pete's flea Market in Moberly I found a Hoover Decade 80 aqua blue just needing a bag fill tube and a minor rip in the top of the outer bag for $6. 60 miles up Highway 63 in Kirksville, I paid a visit to the Kirksville Vacuum Center where I found another Decade 80, this time in mint green, and an Innovation model U4231 with the gray outer bag and burgundy hood. This Innovation was dismantled as the bottom piece w/the 2 axles that feeds the cord to the motor and holds the bellows, the axle that holds the actuator cam was broke, but luckily the replacement part was with it. So I'm trying to fix it, and the biggest challenge is how the f*** did those hoover people fit the cord socket through that little hole in the cam and axle? The dang thing's too big, and what's worse is the Hesco website with all the schematics is down, so I have no help! :( Here are photos |

Alex... This is why they nicknamed this machine "aggravation"! Keep us posted on your progress. I am sure that you will have it up and running before too long. --Tom |

thanks Seamus and Simon for the brushroll links. When converted to USD they're actually cheaper than Vacorama and the Vacservicecenter.com Hesco is back up and I got the 4231 Schematic and it looked as if you could disconnect the wires from the Connector Housing Socket because I know the plug will not fit through the Lower Handle Duct. Just wish I knew how to get the wires out of the socket. Oh and big thanks to Tom for the bag spring for my red u4193 convertible. And you're right this should've been called the Hoover Aggravation!! |
