Just to add a bit more information - The way the automatic cut off works on an Electrolux is it measures the difference in scuction between the motor and the hose inlet. When it rises to a certain difference a valve is activated that turns the machine off. The controll dial sets what that difference will be. If you are vacuuming very loose things like shavings you want it to be a small difference as they will fill the bag before much difference in suction is seen. Conversely when you pick up fine dust it coates the inside of the bag plugging the pours that the air goes through so you would want a high difference or you would pick up very little. This is why a bag can seem nearly empty yet the machine has next to no suction. The dial adjusts for different cleaning needs. Doug |
