As long as I've been interested in vacuums (which is like forever!) I've also been very interested in Central vacs. My grandma and grandpa had a Beam once, which i've used only once. It wasn't too powerful, but the cleaning head was great. My favorite thing about them is the long hose, it just looks like you have a powerful machine.

If I ever get one, it will ether be an Aqua-Air or an MD. Does anyone have a central vac? and if you do, how does it preform to a portable vacuum?

Nathaniel...

We have central and it has ups and downs just like anything else. Nothing gets carpet cleaner than a good upright(Sanitaire, Dyson (DC17 of course lol!), Kirby, etc...). I always find myself going back to my Riccar because it is so light and cleans fairly well. Now like today I used the G4 for deep-cleaning. Central does wonderful on bare floors(wood especially with that one special floor tool for wood that looks like a dust-mop), furniture, steps, cars, etc...
Just my 2 cents!!!

I have a Kirby so I'm glad I'm cleaning better than a Central vac!

Thanks!

The one think in my opinion the central vac has a one up on the kirby is that they usually exhaust outside...which means no dust or anything.

Great machine, used it for deep cleaning, but my Kirby G4 as my everyday machine. Also liked my electrolux model LX!

VacuFlo

I will never live have a house without having a central vacuum! I installed a VacuFlo 566Q in my house a few years ago and I absolutely love it. Its powerful, QUIET, and exhausts outside the house, plus no filters to buy or wash.

I've found that matching the right power nozzle with your system and home makes a huge difference. I had the Hayden nozzle and hated it. Then purchased a Lindhaus/Stealth nozzle, and do not care for that one either. I recently rebuilt the Eureka Express power nozzle from my moms 1980's Eureka Express Canister. This works wonderful for me, the power nozzle is actually a little difficult to push because of the suction power, and its VibraGroomer 3 really deep cleans my carpet. I do still love my Kirby Diamond Edition and use it often as it cleans so well too. The Central Vac certainly reduces the amount of dust in the house and it doesnt recirculate that dirty smell of a bag or animal hair (if you have a dog you know what I mean). I also use my system to dust anything and everything in the house and I know that I'm really getting rid of the dirt, not just moving it around.

Steven...

I do have to agree that using the central to dust is indeed a God-sent!!!
