I mentioned on a previous thread that I haven't been able to find a new power nozzle for my Hoover Celebrity though I've been looking for a couple years and that I really missed the machine. Well, Fred, being the kind person that he is found one on the 'bay and let me know about it. I got it and just wanted to say thanks... if not for you, I probably wouldn't have found it!

I spent a little more than I wanted to on it. I only wanted to spend 20 dollars, but there was another bidder, so I had to pay 36 dollars... with shipping my total is 50 bucks... I think I paid less than half that for the entire machine a few years ago! But... I had just lost a Tri-star AND a Royal Prince hand vac... I probably would have spent 500 dollars just to not get outbid again! It was getting frustrating!

Does anyone know if it's a very difficult operation to transplant the neck from the old power nozzle to the new base? I know the motor housing will be easy, but not sure about the neck. Would it be easier just to have the old power nozzle color matched at Lowes (it's light green) and just paint the new one that color?

Thanks :o)

It isn't hard to transplant the neck, once you undo the screws for the motor I think IIRC one of the motor screws holds the plate that secures the neck. BTW Im sending you an e-mail.

Hey Kenny... I'm posting a picture of the old base to show you why I needed a new one. The entire left side where the brushroll goes is cracked and missing.... I don't think it can be used!

Would be difficult

However not impossible, The same thing happened to the green one I used to have,I wonder if there was a flaw in the plastic for those years.Have you swapped the neck yet? Also you will need to swap the cord or atleast the holder to match yours wich is a fairly easy task.

I haven't gotten the new one yet... I don't know where it's coming from! I was noticing the cord holder thing too! So... after seeing the pic, and knowing what's wrong with it, do you still want the old one? I'll send it if you think you can use it... otherwise, in the trash it goes. That seems to be a common problem with the Celebrity power nozzles (though I know they used this power nozzle for other machines and other power nozzles for Celebrity machines so I should say specifically these power nozzles)... also, the metal retaing nub on the power nozzle and the bare floor tool (mine came with the barefloor tool which I love and the crevice tool only) broke off and I had an ex of mine fashion a replacement out of a length of screw. When I got it, the power nozzle was duct taped to the wand by the previous owner... AND the cord winder didn't work! I miss that ex.... he was a jerk but could fix anything LOL...

I guess though powerful and attractive, these weren't very durable machines huh?

I forgot to mention, as far as duability the PN and the cord winders and cor clips on the non rewind models seems to be the only issue I have found so far.

Hey Kenny.... I hope you weren't bidding on the one that I won and I outbid you! It is sooooo frustrating to get outbid... sometimes the price of things goes way beyond what's reasonable... I've learned just to let it go and there will always be another that comes along. I know you offered to pay 15 dollars plus shipping, but don't worry about the 15 dollars.... I'd feel silly taking money for something that I was going to throw in the trash anyway. Besides, we're all friends here anyway... our common unique passion unites us, we should be able to help each other out from time to time... just pay shipping! I wish I still had the piece that broke off, then maybe you could JB Weld it or something, but I can't find it anywhere....
