I wish I knew why the Hoover Dual V is that loud, but it is! It is by far the loudest vacuum appliance I have EVER used. You literally have to scream to be heard over it!

I don't know about you, but I swear it's actually loud enough to do hearing damage (no joke). I used my parents in this house a few weeks ago and I actually wore ear plugs.

Did a piss-poor job too. I'm actually going to rent a rug doctor to clean up what the Dual V left behind. The old ones were SOOOOOOOOO much better.

Thinking about it....

You're probably best dumping the Dual-V in the nearest dumpster where it belongs. You'll be much happier with the Rug Doctor. When you see the crap you pick up with it, you'll wonder why you ever tortured your ears with that plastic TTI monstrosity in the first place.

The classic SteamVacs worked well and weren't very loud. Those Dual-V things though.......OY!!!

The Rug Doctors are imho much superior to the Hoover Steam Vacs, which I had.. When we moved in 06 I used our Steam Vac and while ok it couldn't get out the worst of the stains. I rented a Rug Doctor and it really went to town.

Don't buy a Dirt Devil steam vac whatever you do.

Don't buy Bissell ProHeat! The one I tried fell apart & didn't do good. I'd prefer using my Lux B8 shampooer THEN extract water w/shop vac.

I also prefered the Rinse N Vac too, or we had stores here that rented Thermax too, which was just like Rinse N Vac.
They also had the nicest smelling shampoo.

You can still purchase the commercial Thermax shampooer for $1,499 on ebay, and it will be my next shampooer.

Thermax three stage motor

Sam,
consider getting the thermax with a three stage motor as opposed to a double stage. Your lift will go from 112 to 136. At 136, you're getting close performance with units that have two, two stage motors. I have a crusader model 3690 with an external heater, it has two motors rated at 150 lift. After using this, you wouldn't settle for anything less than 136 lift. I am extremely impressed with the little crusader carpet extractor. Also, the people at Crusader MFG are very customer service oriented.

I don't know if the Thermax 3-stage machine can use Power Brush since I always like how the PB scrubs the floor/carpet (better vibration than RD)
