Question about central vacuum cleaners

I installed a VacuFlo 566Q in our house about 3 years ago and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Only 3 rooms in the house have wall-to-wall carpet and the rest is ceramic tile and oak wood. Its a huge time saver and it out cleans any canister. I still use my Kirby Diamond Edition on a regular basis to clean the wall to wall only because I don�t care for the Lindhaus power nozzle I have. I have both the electric and turbo power hose kits and for quick cleaning the Turbo Cat is sufficient. Invest in a good power nozzle for your system such as the Wessel-Werk nozzle and you will only need to use your Kirby once and a while.

Another huge benefit to a central system is they are usually vented outside so the dust is truly eliminated from you living area, and you will notice less dust within the house. I often use my system to dust everything in the house, which saves time and removes the dust not just move it around.

I have never used an MD system but from what I have heard they are quality units that perform well. I believe that our web master Fred Neslon has one. I don�t know him personally but if you read this forum often you will find he is a wealth of information and well respected by most here. Checkrate/Likes So we may be moving this summer into a nice large home, built a few years ago. It has an MD silentmaster vacuum installed. I do not want to let my kirby and rainbow go- and I was wondering if the central vacuum is really all that better. Does it start to loose suction as you get to farther outlets? Are these really that quiet? Easy to use?

Checkrate/Likes *Thread Number: 5990 Central Vacuum Question* Hey there, I would keep your current vacuum cleaners as well. While central vacuums can be quite convienent at times, they typically don't pull the carpet nap up as well as say your Kirby would. Typically central vacuums aren't meant to be a heavy duty cleaner like a Kirby would be. I have never noticed a loss of suction as you get farther away from the outlet, but be careful not to let the pipes get clogged. I think it's best to have a nice variety of vacuums to choose from.

Checkrate/Likes *Wet pick up centrals* At least 2 yrs. ago I was doing a google search on them and found some brand that claims to suck all liquids and mop your floors with it too.....Bill in Az....

Checkrate/Likes I have a Beam and really love it. When you want to do a really good clean, you just can't beat a central IMHO.

Checkrate/Likes A couple weeks ago I took the NIB Compact C8 over to a fellow collector's house for a wash-in. He's not a vacuum person (more of a washer person) but has a Beam central vac that's pretty well maintained. That Compact with the Turbinette pulled an absolutely ASTONISHING amount of filth out of that carpet! Not only was I shocked, but got him wanting one now!

Checkrate/Likes We have a DrainVac in our house it is very powerful but I don't use it much at all.We have a a Turbocat ex turbine head which I can't stand.I have a Persian and a Maincoon and the pet hair clogs it bad we have a Electric powerhead but its broke and my aunt talked my mom into the air driven kind which she regrets now.So she is getting a Sebo powerhead soon.I don't use it much at all besides the kick pan in the Kitchen after sweeping which is very nice not messing with a dustpan.Just take care of the motor make sure it can get good cooling ours is a 220 Volt unit also its a good idea to get one of thoese fire sensors.They are about 25 bucks but good to have, but for me I just use my Riccar which cleans great.
