I'm having trouble finding the motor filter for a Hoover Celebrity canister vac. It's just a porous membrane about five inches in diameter, and about two inches tall with a small cut-out in one side.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks

Most vacuum stores should carry that... or eBay.

Or see link:

HooverCelebrity,

Many thanks. I've been to three stores locally and they all told me the motor filter was no longer available. I also checked around online, but apparently not completely enough. I just placed an order online with the vendor on the link you provided, also same item for my Hoover Spirit.

Filter on Ebay

I have seen the filters on Ebay. I have one machine that uses that filter. It is a foam filter similar to that used in Shop Vacs. I need to go look at mine but I think foam sleeve filter for smaller shop vacs could be trimmed to work and they are at hardware stores. I will let you know.

Discontinued Item

That filter is a discontinued item from Hoover. I order a couple from Hoover Celebrity's link. The company later refunded my payment because they are out of stock and won't stock them any longer. I found the filter at Southside Vacuum. Let's see if I get it. I have been thinking about trying to fashion my own filter out of something else too.

Shop Vac Filter

Well, I tried a Shop Vac filter. I cut it down as Ryan suggested. It fits slightly loose but I suppose the vacuum from the motor will draw it in a little more to make a tighter fit. Don't know for sure. The filter is so porous that I doubt it provides much filtration. But I really like the Hoover Celebrity with the Quadraflex nozzle. It's very basic and simple but very powerful too. I'm still amazed at the gunk it has been getting out my carpet.
