Actually of course, I spotted them and snatched 'em up right away. Both at Goodwill here in Stratford. Stanley left his car trunk open all night and the battery was dead, and the trunk filled with snow. LOL Well, I jump started him and we drove in two cars - just in case - out to the mall for lunch at Zellers and then did the Thrift rounds. This, a GE Model VC150A with great solid electric pigtailed hose and ONE GE schrome wand. Pulls 61". No rust, just grime and filth and a full cloth bag of plaster, wood chips and nails. It was bundled with this Eureka PN but of course the wands won't connect. Well, a free PN anyway. In fact the only GE wands I have that fit are the Roll-Easy wands. I have 4 other Swiveltops upstairs with non power hoses and NO WANDs!!! Help me if you can. email me. |

Dave, I have to hand it to you. You find the most unusual vacs! I have never seen either one of those vacs! Nice shade on the Regina. Rob |

Just back from a public meeting at City hall. On closer examination the GE is going to clean up really nice. About that meeting and Council vote: ta blow for Common Sense was struck here tonight. 7 years ago a certain american retail behemoth began it's assault on sleepy li'l Stratford, population 30,000. Before that and every two years since Stratford has played by the rules and followed successive Official Expansion Plans culminating in 2006 with OPA 10 that restricted further retail development in the crowded east end where we have two fine mid level Malls. What land remains there is zoned Industrial with good reason. The sparse West and South entrances to the city are wide open and welcoming to new business and big box stores wishing to locate here. Naturally the east end is where the Big W insists on locating with skewed and misleading 'research' supporting their position. in the ensuing 5 years Walmart's plans have expanded their store twice, now suggested to be a 247,000 square foot Super Wally in direct opposition to the 2 grocery stores - Zehrs and Sobeys, 3 hardware stores - TSC, Canadian Tire and Home Hardware, and 3 Department stores - Sears, Zellers and Winners that serve us quite nicely in the East end. None of this will be unfamiliar to you all I'm sure. Tonight's vote, after 17 citizen's well written concise presentations against changing the Official Plan, one practically illiterate hysterical rant in favour and one imperious presentation re-hashing all the lies and bribes from the Wallyworld representitive resulted in Council voting 12 to 2 in favour of sticking to our Official Plan, denying WalMart their favoured location. It will come as no surprise that applause was thunderous for the Againsts and the Fors were acknowledged with thundering silence. A very well behaved polite bunch, we Stratfordites. As is a usual W tactic, we leaned tonight that they purchased the Industrial land for $2 million in the East of the city before making their first application for a Zoning Change. That land is now assessed at $6 mill. The W Rep flatly stated tonight that WalMart has NO interest to locate in the West or South ends, even tho the lands are available including a huge Federal Transport of Canada tract of acreage that has been deemed surplus as of 3 years ago. Well, there's so much more to the 7 year saga but clearly, with 5 Walmarts within a 25-35 minute drive of Stratford and all in larger towns there can be only one reason Walmart wants in here - to rape and pillage the good people of Perth County. A great cheer went up, it will be on tonight's news and we can only hope it all ends soon. Walmart has been told where it can go, it's the West End and if they don't like it they can keep on west right out of town. The two Councilors that voted against fled the building by the second floor staircase to their offices and out the employee entrance back door...where a crowd was waiting. :-) Now I'm gonna go begin cleaning up the GE... and a correction. It's not a swiveltop, the hose bezel rotates 90 degrees side to side. Washed everything down in and by the sink with a fingernail brush and Mr Clean Eraser. The hose is naturally yellowed and the white plastic/rubber bits turn out to be the palest of pale greens. Did GE put out pale green accessories and nozzles for this? I think so... Rather than a proper paper liner bag there was a Filter Queen paper cone clamped in place, which works but doesn't really fit down deep inside around the motor. But because of this FQ cone the cloth bag inside is immaculately clean and not stained anywhere. The Lady who owned this took very good care of it. I'll be heading over to Tom Ellison's Vac Shop tomorrow seeking a wand, tools and maybe he has the correct PN down the basement? |

The difference is like night and day! Good luck on the wands, attachments, and genuine GE power nozzle, I'm sure they're waiting for you somewhere. And the Regina, the only Regina cannisters I've seen are the photos in Doug Smith's website. I do have a couple old Regina uprights myself, a model 39 that runs excellently, and a model 59, that doesn't run at all! Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Jeff |

I like the tool switch plate cover too! I don't think I have ever seen one of those Regina's. I think I hear a construction crane being flat-bedded to your house. Could there be more towers in the future? Rick |

There's a big white/green rubber blower port stopcock? The switch is a sliding one on the side just 'round the corner from the electric hose socket. As for tools, I borrowed some white GE ones from upstairs to demonstrate the 3 chrome tool clips on the opposite side. So really, all I need is a second chrome GE wand and some day, the PN. Whee! |

Gotta luv a feller like Mr Ellison who listens to my tale, heads to the cellar and comes back up with a 2nd matching GE chrome wand, a circa 1982 white CGE PN model XV1812C, 4 rubber ring cord clips AND a black plastic converter collar to join the old style wands to the newer PN. $free. So I washed the tools... We chatted about Monitor cylinders and Tub style Reginas, which he knew about and remembers how the dustbag polished aluminum lid attaches. It has 3 molded lugs under locking tabs. You grasp the handle and give it a sharp turn, it then lifts off for access to the cloth bag, which is surprisingly shallow - less than half the capacity of the GE... What a guy! On another jaunt over to Zellers for the Turkey Dinner Special had to check out Goodwill and for $4.00 I got me another RoboPuppy. This one walks forward & back, turns and sometimes dances to his own music. He's another of the 'tamagoochi' type artificial intelligence robots from 2000 that start out as newborns and with attention and feeding begin to grow up. This one - TEKNO - is so 'real' that after a while of being followed around, barked and whimpered at, Felix lay down on his back to play & be nuzzled by it. And the Target Brand 'magic' Eraser costs much less in 4-packs. I always grab a few boxes when I'm traveling in the U.S.A. Because they break up in hard use so quickly I cut them in half or thirds & use 'em until they are crumbs continuing with the large crumbs - then just grab the next fresh one and continue. They are hugely overpriced but work so well. There's no useful gain in buying the 'upscale' Mr Clean versions. Dave CLICK HERE TO GO TO aeoliandave's LINK |
