Hello All,
I find this Electric Sweeper Vac really interesting as it could switch from straight suction to motor driven brush with suction. I think they were manufactured in around 1919 or early 1920's. The diagram of the Electric Sweeper Vac is from www.vintagehoover.com... which shows how it works. Do any of the Vacuumland Members own one? Another good looking and interesting vacuum it this Apex. I just thought these were interesting machines and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Thank you for looking, Pete |

Wow that's neat! In reality it's probably an almost-clever patent workaround for driving the brush, but back in those days when people weren't entirely sold on the idea of a power driven brush, it doubled as a neat little sales pitch.
I'll bet it didn't last too long though. Straight suction starting going the way of the dinosaur and that's a fair bit of extra complexity to be manufacturing. I wonder how they sealed around the belt to prevent suction loss? Or even if they did at all. Also, dat lever. |
