Hmmmmm.   It's odd that the bag is so perfect and its color and logo so vivid while the hose is very faded.

Hoses are generally not protected from sunlight (no room for them in the Tools Box), but I suspect the second photo was over-corrected for brightness, or a fill-in flash was used.
Either way, it's a gorgeous example. Should be in a museum! Where else would you find one in this condition?

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
I don't think that is original cord. I can't point it out but I have about 3 feet of a 510 cord and it's gray. The cord looks too long and if hose was correct it would have red in it. Does he have original sweet aire plug in black. The handle should be Grey too.

How could someone have paid the price of one of those new, and never use it? It would almost be a crime to use it now, but just as bad to never use it...

Some of the gurls are going to mortgage their homes to get this one. Bet it end up in the Silo in Pennsylvania.

The seller added a bunch more photos, and it's clear that "this is what it is" -- an unused (or very lightly used) Model 510 Kirby.

The bag is magnificent!

In a better photo of the hose, we can see that it is dark and non-faded.

The light brown, striped packaging paper is original and authentic.

Look at the brand-new cord! It's incredible!!

The serial number on the motor plate and the large shipping carton (apparently only a piece of which survived) match.

I remember seeing quite a few of these machines when I was a little boy. It's a rare gem that I sure wish I could afford.

1050 and reserve isn't met. I messaged him that his machine is nice but it's not super rare. 1c didn't sale for 500. I have a 505 all original everything with belt cap polished up mine is more rare. I told him nice vacuum but don't be an idiot drop reserve or you won't sale how it's that high is insanely too high. Kirby Mike has a 508 and 510 nicer. I think his is 750 900. Crack.

I stayed up late to see how this action ended. I was thinking $1500 was going to be the high, but $2100? Insane. I'm not a big Kirby guy, so I'm not up to date on values. Does $2100 for something in such amazing condition seem right?

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
Hey no no it's in amazing condition but I question nib. The handle is wrong color the sweet aire is not Grey. The bag looks like kirby Mikes. I doubt you will see one sale that high. If you really wanted it its worth what anyone would pay for it. The buyer was willing to pay. To him it's worth it so who am I to say.
Walter what made the vacuum something you had to have if you don't mind me asking. Congrats too it's a gem.
Les
