First off, Webmaster, I know this is more of a "Miscellanea" Thread, but as I am not in there, and most who requested to see it are not on the "Junior" Forum, so I ask this thread be left open here in Household.

Well, this update has been requested both by friends on here, Facebook, and outside the Online world, so I've gone ahead and pasted in the update I shared with friends.

Hi folks! I've been asked for this update all around, so here ya go!

Some of you may have noticed more inactivity from me online, and in general. For those of you who do not know, I am incredibly close with my mothers Parents, my only remaining Grandparents. As of Today (11/22/2017) my Grandfather went into the Hospital 17 days ago feeling weak. We found out he had rapidly progressing Pneumonia. MRI Scans revealed he had also had a minor stroke about a month before. None of us knew this. He had been pretty stable for a few days, before he was moved to ICU. He could not cough phlegm out, and the nurse could not tend solely to him. 2 days later, he was at Death's door. His heart rate was dangerously low (maxing out at 45 beats a minute, average was 35), and he had to be intubated the next day, on a breathing machine, and was Sedated. He was  too unstable to go through any tests to check his Infection, so they loaded him up with Antibiotics, and put him on a feeding tube.

After a week on the breathing machine, his infection had shrunk, and he had been taken off sedation. He continued improving, and the breathing machine was only connected to assist him if he dropped below 10 breaths a minute (happened 3 times in 24 hours...Very Good!!).

He was taken off the breathing tube after 2 days breathing on his own, and was moved to Progressive care a day later. He spent a day there, before being moved to a regular room. He is now going through Swallowing, Physical, and Occupational Therapy. He is talking again (talking just like his old self), and is only mildly confused (better than expected). The confusion is improving daily.

As of today, he had a G-Tube put on. They have full faith he will be eating within a month, but this way he will get better nutrition until then. Once his swallowing and mobility improve a bit more, he will move to a nursing home, for rehab. He fully intends to go back home after the Rehab.

Anyways, this has been why I have been out of the loop. I've spent every free minute at the Hospital with him. Life has been a cycle...Wake up, go to School, go to the Hospital, Go Home, Go to Bed. Thanks to how fast he is improving, my life is slowly returning to normal.

I do hope to become active online, and in my regular life again. Right now, family is my Priority. Thanks to everyone for their Patience, and Well Wishes.

Best,

A.C. Rousonelos

Sorry for the Novel to read!

I cant express my emotions right now. I want to thank everyone for their patience, and I ask that if you need to contact me (via Telephone), please call me Cell (number ending in 7066) as we want to leave the landline clear (2788). Otherwise, i'm trying to check my email at least once or twice a day.

Thanks!
Andy

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. You sound like the best grandson anyone could ask for, and I'm sure you're going to be instrumental in his recovery! My grandfather passed when I was an infant, but I cherished my grandmother for years into my adulthood. People who still have their grandparents are so lucky, so much can be learned from them. Keep doing what you're doing, but don't forget to take care of yourself in the process. Rock on Andy!

Glad all is on the mend

Sounds like your grandfather had a great doctor, who
fought to save him just like Hawkeye Pierce!
Keep up your strength, too.

Thanks, guys!

Grandpa transferred from the Hospital to the Nursing home today. After Rehab he can go home.
