I have a Hoover Dial A Matic that does not power on. I have a feeling that one of the brushes might be stuck as it has not been powered on for some time. Is there an easy way to get to them if I open up the machine to check? Also how would one go about opening up a DAM? I think I have read that they a not easy to work on. Hope I am wrong. If anyone has a diagram handy that wold also be appreciated. Thanks! Richard.

During the last run of the wooven hoses a rubber sleeve was added to the pistal end of the hose. I first thought this was a great idea and thought the rubber sleeve was added to protect wear on that end of the hose so the hose would last longer. Here's the thing. In my opinion, the hose end did not last any longer. The end of the rubber sleeve facing the wooven hose seems to me to be just as prone to wear as it is even a little narrower. Anyone have any thoughts? Am I correct in my thinking as to why the rubber sleeve was added to the hose?
