On all models up to the Classic 1CR, turning the machine on without anything attached to the front of it will only activate the headlight. On the Classic Omega 1CB and subsequent machines, it was changed so not even the light would light without anything attached to the front of it.

A replacement bulb for your D80 is part no. 1650, while for your Omega it is part no. 109273.

Les, the headlight on a D80 should come on when you press the power switch, even if the floor nozzle or hose are not attached.
